if you remove the prologue it's pointless yea, and I agree they could have just picked an fl from the beginning and it may have worked even better. it just has to have something symbolizing the extent of the change in the mindset of the mc. Because that's what the genderbending in this story essentially does. As he was just a normal guy that turned into a traumatized little girl because of said event. And age regression could also have worked with an fl lead from the start probably even better as keeps some sort of form to change back to, to grow past well his/her past and return/grow a to better self. if only the author continued the story. The doll represents how shallow the relationship between him and the person that betrayed him was, one build on a fake reality. A person that doesn't exist and he still clings to that idea. He finds solace in his own fabricated reality and although some of that reality shattered once he was betrayed that doll is what left of his ability to trust and care. And the doll is exactly why I liked this story. I never quite saw a story that used an object the way this story does. A doll is also what children use to find a sense of safety/solace and care. They grow past it some points and its when they start to define themselves as grown up. As they have grown past the need of a doll by their side. Which is why the age regression worked quite well. And it wouldn't matter how op he/she got that doll would be a major weakpoint as long as the mc didn't grow past their pain. So I saw a lot of potential, but alas

I like to see people in pain... no that came out wrong. I like to know that people have it worse than me because it makes my problems seem so small. it's a depressing story and the characters have all have their own problems. they are all human and they have their human faults. We have our empathy but that's about it. we are not meant to care about everyone and when someone is different it will be harder to empathize. The characters change according the circumstances and actions with their own set of consequences. it makes their character complicated, deep and because of their humanity makes them feel real and without plot armor. sure the is strong but she's not without her flaws or weaknesses. she has her ice cream and her bad side. one is cute other is cool and badass but depressing nonetheless. I'd like to say this story is just realistic. The world is not black and white or a balanced grey. it makes everything a lot more easier to relate to or immerse in. it gives the events more oomf which other stories like to cover up with forced drama.
