Ooooh what a plot twist. The true enemy felt a bit lame though because of the repeated typical villain act of “oh so you managed to thwart my plans, I THINK NOT”. Also, first 🙂 View More

nemesis1235: It could be that since the Emperor knew that by using the Grand inheritance. He was "doomed" to that state and the continent would lack the ability to return him to sanity. The fact that his mind was fully restored would only mean one logical conclusion, that a higher power above the level of Angaria was used to restore his sanity.
Being a very smart individual as well and not knowing about what happened to Alistair and how she joined the tricobra sect.
He would probably assume that his mind was restored after his husk was captured by mainland forces in the hopes of prying more information from him. Hence attacking them in order to turn the tables.

That was the most convuluted but sound reason I can think off based on the description that Fenoras was restored to full function.

Was my reasoning justifiable?

While the prince is indeed the template for “idiot noble”, I hope there is more of an explanation about the heavy bias against this kingdom and it’s king later on. Most of the national policies introduced so far seemed good for his country View More

Yeah it definitely makes sense. I’m just sharing my thoughts as I read, which would be more relevant if you ever end up re-writing/editing the novel.

I look forward to reading the new version whenever you do it! Good luck! View More

TheSilverQuill: Its definitely not perfect writing, and by no means do I think it is. If anything, I was kind of rushing to get this story on paper. Since it was so far back, I kinda never went back to it.

One thing I did know was that if a reader made it past this and continued reading, then there's a great chance they won't want to stop reading till I've finished with hundreds or a thousand chapters.

Does that make sense?

I'll definitely consider rewriting some things though, to hint a bit more about the king. Thanks!

Identity conflict in the form of bi-polarity would definitely be interesting, and I’m sure that it would become more prominent in future chapters. However this chapter doesn’t give off that sort of ‘feeling’. It feels more like a scenario where everything works out because Jack is the MC. I feel like you had trouble choosing between first-person and third-person narrative. If you want to stick with 3P then the chapter would need more of the king’s though process here, maybe including stuff you’ve put in chapter 83 (which I still haven’t read). If 1P, then we’d need more monologues from Jack which would give an opportunity to show him being bi-polar. Could even do a chapter each for the king and Jack, as you’ve done now.

Honestly, I don’t mind him being a prick. I have nothing against him flipping the middle finger to the king and leaving. But it needs to be more believable than “he convinced a guard and left”, for example he escaped quickly and then lost them in the crowd and they didn’t remember his face well enough to draw it, or maybe a shift in perspective to see the king commanding the guards to let him go or something.

Jack saying “let’s develop a mutually beneficial relationship but I won’t be under you”, and the king saying “cool but what’s your magical girl power?, jack-“I don’t have one, why? You not gonna support me anymore?” This interaction itself is not far fetched at all. It’s the details surrounding it which make it far-fetched. You’ve made a somewhat big point of the whole “every summoned hero has a special power”, it feels a bit ridiculous for the king to not even think that Jack might be hiding it, especially given the “bad” personality the king has seen so far. You’ve shown the king’s inner thoughts/feelings at more than one point before, so it doesn’t make sense for the story to only talk about Jack’s thoughts. Other similar things also need either more details or more consistency. View More

TheSilverQuill: You're not wrong, but that's also why I like it the way it is. You'll learn that the MC actually struggles with identity issues for the first while, acting like his in-game character would, his pushover janitor self, or the new hero him.

Plus, if you think about it, was Jack an even bigger prick in the first chapter, becoming the brain of every player's existence?

Is it really that far fetched for this to happen with his first "NPC" interaction when he was literally playing the game only minutes ago?

If it is, please let me know

Also I just want to say, from the perspective of someone on chapter 3, chapter 83 is too long of a wait to understand what’s going on here. Disregarding the word count of each chapter, there are many books which have their climax before the 80th chapter.

I do hope my comments came across as what they were meant to be, constructive criticism/feedback. Good luck! View More

TheSilverQuill: Yeah... the king let him, for good reason (Ch 83)

The Achievement Junkie · C3

Oops. Just saw this after posting a big ass thing dissing the king XD Seriously though, while I haven’t reached that chapter yet, I feel like this chapter overdoes it a lot. The king may have his own reasons to let him go, but there is little to no thought shown from the mc’s side. He isn’t shocked or alarmed, nor does he show any wariness. His behaviour is too contradictory for him to be treating this as a game, and too frivolous to be treating as reality.

It might be worth it to include some logic on the part of the mc to justify what he does and maybe give some parts regarding his thoughts/feelings about what’s going on around him in any future edits you make View More

Wow indeed. Putting aside any reasons the king might have to not kill the hero and all the stuff about slavery that everyone has mentioned already, it isn’t that far-fetched to arrest him. No matter how peaceful the nation, disrespecting its court would undoubtedly have some consequences. Even in reality, even the countries with the most freedom of speech and whatnot have severe punishments for disrespecting the court of law.

Barring even that, given the information we have, it would be reasonable to declare the mc as a dangerous person and detain him for “education”. Going a step further, if they can summon heroes, then there’s no reason why some sort of demon summoning wouldn’t be possible; in which case they can say something has gone wrong with the summoning and that gives the kingdoms enough of an alibi to do whatever they want.

At the same time, from the perspective of the mc, he’s been given a “quest” which has led him to appear here. In essence, the king/kingdom is the quest-giver. Snubbing the one who’s giving you the quest is most likely the easiest way to fail it. Why would he do that, and from his perspective, risk being returned to his world?

Obviously a lot of what I’ve said is just thinking too deeply into the story, but this entire chapter is indeed a massive plot hole. The king really has to be the ultimate figurehead/idiot if even the head of his own personal magic guard standing next to him doesn’t even try to stop the mc while the king is “raging” around.
