Fors in this (and next) sentence implies that I&BCO have an Angel, as they're somewhat protected from heavy retaliation. Angels are basically nuclear bombs, in that their terrifying existence alone protects everyone (that have them) from directly nuking each other. It's the reason why mid to low sequence level problems between rival organizations couldn't just easily be solved by members of high sequence (unless both sides are ready for war).

"Don't worry too much. Even if the Rose School of Thought takes action in the future, their target will most likely be Gardner Martin. You'll just be along for the ride. The Iron and Blood Cross Order, being a secret organization, has enough strength to resist the Rose School of Thought even if the Devil families send someone to participate.

An entire organization that hard counter Hunters. More reasons for Lumian to start building his army early

Dammit, Pyromaniacs would be in for a rough time! Lumian made a self-deprecating comment, infected by Franca's and Jenna's vulgarities.

Were they trying to cure their beyonder crewmate that lost control?

It is indeed a murloc… Did they truly capture it? Why didn't they turn it into various materials and transport it to Trier? Why risk keeping it alive? Lumian silently mused as he asked with a smile, "Are you planning to apologize on its behalf and compensate me for my mental distress to soothe my terrified mind?"

With that kind of name, he's definitely seems like a transmigrator tho

The white skeleton spoke with a voice that sounded like metal rubbing against metal, "I like a line from The Adventurer series: 'That's basic courtesy.'"

Even if Aurore herself isn't one, her death technically did involved powers at an Angel-level

The lady's voice remained soft as she continued, "However, in the world of mysticism, there are cases where a person's death might not be their true end.

Probably easier to control hunters

"Dammit, f*cking hell, I've been with him for so long, and he still doesn't trust me. He doesn't even want to test me!"

Lumian is definitely a lot more mentally stable now. From Christo and Simon's perspective, probably seemed like Lumian had a 180 degree personality change after their last meeting

He had exaggerated the risks and instilled fear to dampen the spirits of "Rat" Christo and Simon, plunging them into a state of worry. Then, by revealing his own strength, offering convincing suggestions, and providing small favors, he would establish himself as the team's leader.

"Would you like this monocle? It's of no use to me. I could exchange it for some cash. With it, you can disguise yourself as a member of Salle de Bal Unique and earn a good amount of money there."

Being an enemy doesn't work on Lumian so dude is goin for the friend route

Termiboros replied in a majestic voice, "It instills fear and repulsion in the Montsouris ghost, but it holds no power of its own. For you, this could be a crucial key."

*PSA to everyone else, AVOID this reply section as someone already spoiled something from future chapters* The first part of your reply is already spoiler territory. Keep in mind that we're still in chapter 251, and Lumian (as well as the readers) still haven't fully grasped the extent of Termiboros's influence. I was being vague on purpose, by not saying if Lumian's current thoughts was the truth or not as to avoid spoilers. Termiboros made use of this current uncertainty to manipulate Lumian into thinking he's the problem, saying that he's the cause of everyone's death to make him feel guilty (In truth, The Fool's seal is strong). But in any case, like I said before, truth or not, Lumian will STILL intent to go against him. The fact still stands, everyone is STILL in danger. As a reader, your backwards morals and lack of empathy shouldn't undermine Lumian's character to care for others. Sure, you might be the type to look away when a stranger in front of you is about to get hit by a car.. That's fine. But what you should NEVER do is insult those who actually risks their lives to push them away. "Why help anyone when they never owe me anything?" Man, that way of thinking is so f*cked my dude. Humanity would've went extinct already if everyone had your way of thinking. Imagine a world where the concept of altruism never existed. oof

At that moment, the words of Psychiatrist Madam Susie echoed in his mind: Always remind yourself not to overreact. Whenever you feel a similar surge of emotions, take deep breaths and find your calm…

Come to think of it, a slumbering Deity does sound extremely terrifying. Klein just simply sleep talking in His sleep might make anyone praying and listening to him go insane

"The only caveat is that Mr. Fool is in a deep slumber, and we must not disturb Him too often. According to my Major Arcana card, we should not do so more than once a month unless absolutely necessary. Reciting His honorific name alone will not draw attention or assistance. In fact, it may result in failure and pose a certain risk. The power inadvertently released by a slumbering deity is capable of obliterating us countless times over. Thus, we must perform a ritual to ensure our safety."

Either memories were altered, or the Officials are intentionally letting her free. Probably both.

The portrait displayed bore no resemblance to her; her features were almost reversed, except for her undeniable beauty. Even her brother Julien would fail to recognize her as his sister, let alone any bounty hunters.

She was shot in her shoulder and her sides that wasn't lethal. These shots were taken to ensure other parties didn't kill Jenna on the spot. The Official Beyonders was heavily implied to be on Lumian's side in multiple chapters, even having a top brass explicitely stating that not all wild beyonders should be prosecuted. Combined with their presence in the party, them "guarding'" Hugh from his own actual guards, blocking their view of Jenna and pretending not to notice her, it's pretty obvious that she was simply used. She's a clearly a victim, and a beyonder that kills evil people, so to the Officials, her death/imprisonment would be a huge waste. But yes, after the events in Vol1, the fate of Jenna, Franca, and even Charlie was intentionally built up by the author for them to die at the end, along with everyone that Lumian ever meets (The entirety of his apartment's tenants). Them surviving SHOULD be surprising to the readers, because THAT is the hidden twist. They shouldn't survive, and yet against all odds, they simply did. The point is to help Lumian (also readers) realize, that fate itself CAN be changed, and to never lose hope as the light of dawn always comes after the darkest hour (Jenna almost dying and seeing light symbolizes this). Suicide was one of the main themes in this volume, and Cuttlefish emphasizing "Hope" in this pit of despair that is LoTM is in itself an extremely important message for readers. Because that's how it should be IRL. "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light". TLDR: Jenna (And Lumian's other acquantances) surviving against all odds is the main point of this Volume. It's that tiny light of hope for Lumian. He just needs to seek that light. (Vol2 title: "Lightseeker")
