Series always felt a bit NTR to me, Emerie always felt wishy washy. I recall 4 possible love interests and just couldn’t keep reading. I got to where Klea kidnaps Emerie, and just couldn’t do it anymore. Julien+Klea felt foreshadowed, didn’t look like Emerie was gonna end with Gwen or Morgana but unsure about the Snake lady

The feeling that the story elicits is bleakness. I think this was the intent, the characters that we meet at least in the first 70ish chapters don’t have any redeeming qualities. The setting is barely touched, a third of the chapters read and I can’t make myself care about anything. The tower trope isn’t great, and again 70ish chapters in, this ain’t good example of the trope.

I generally don’t read harem or vampire stories. I don’t know why I even started this one. Harems logically don’t make sense, who wants to share a partner. For me generally if I’m going to read a harem then the author needs to explain why this works. The story explains the reasons in a simple manner and you can accept why this is even an option. At least for four girls, any more and then I’d question it. I’ve been over saturated with vampires that I have a hard time reading stories involving them, but I did enjoy the lore coupled with their unique abilities. Overall the story as been decent and has room to grow though it also has potential to get bad real quick, the latest chspters 101-102 are introducing some plot points that have a chance to make the story blast off.

I’ll keep this review short. Some of the plot seems to be derived from reincarnation of the strongest sword master, this isn’t that big on an issue but it does pull you out of the story. Character names and personalities are taken from other stories, for example Legolas and Gimly. It’s cringy and pulls you out of the story. Some things are done that don’t make sense, an example without spoilers putting a token in play that was safe where it was just to add a sense of danger. The world seems like an afterthought, for example the naming of countries, country x, y, z. A lot of little things add up overtime, there are a few other issues regarding certain business mogules and their questionable descisions. If your daughter is interested in a Person of Extreme Interest that has the backing of a super power in your country. A business man might consider the merits of that connection. When deciding if this book was good for me I didn’t see anyone bring up these issues. These things are easy to remedy, some tropes common in the vrmmo genre are unavoidable.

This follows many of the typical plot points for a story with a vrmmo where the MC dies and comes back to the past. I always start my reviews with the bad, minor issue with the need of an editor, but honestly the writing rarely pulls me out of the Narrative. Now into what I liked and what prompted my writing of the review, the MC has a lot of baggage from his past life and I’ve often felt that this aspect was never really used effectively but this story has it driving some of the narrative points in a way that otherwise could not be done well. The story is still young but seedlings are currently being a planted, you can see history between characters unrelated to the MC and plenty of real friction. Some characters are weak, some are annoying but this is done with intent as part of the story, you can clearly see the character flaws which gives the characters room to grow.

I scored most 3stars other then character development. I can’t get over the fact that a 6 year old is out fighting a wolf with a carving knife. No one seemed to care, I mean sure this is a different culture. Things might pick up later but between this and the rate of release it’s just not worth my time.

I've run into this trope a lot recently, for example "It all started with Lightning, Beginning after the End, and various others" reading about young children using weapons feel unrealistic. Think Game of thrones where the children while they are trained in the use of swords, you're showed that its on a level of a child. The way that a person with the physical body of a child, not acting like a child should logically be questioned. Somethings can be explained away with intelligence, other things not so much, the only thing that can explain certain items would be experience. For example cooking, if I've never had tomatoes I wouldn't be able to come up with a marinara sauce. The short of it, I have two main issues with the trope. Firstly actions that surpass the physical limitations of a body of a child and the bleeding out of knowledge only gained through experience. I'm not saying that this book is bad, but this is an issue that brings me out of an narrative. I've read a few more chapters and hope the MC gets older.

I can’t fairly rate the story any lower than I already am. I got to chapter 8 and this story falls in the same pitfall as all these Isekai reincarnated as a baby do. The early years are just not believable, a five year old picking up a bow is just so damn unrealistic. The story could very well have its strong points but I can’t get over this issue. My review is for people who feel like I do about this trope. I will say at least the young MC didnt sexualize his mother like is often done.

When writing a review I always try to find something negative to write about because I personally look for that type of review when choosing a new book to read. 5 star and 1 star review don’t give useful information in my experience. That being said I did have a challenge coming up with negatives. Those I found are minor and will likely be answered in later chapters. At the point we’re at the number of layered characters are not many. But this might be intentional as we are seeing the world through the MCs lens. Some people who enjoy multiple PoVs and heaps of information on all characters might not enjoy this aspect. Otherwise the story feels good, the MC isn’t OP but that fits the narrative, I bought priv yesterday after telling myself that I’d wait till September because it got interesting. The MC is a loner, so when he has protracted interactions with other people it gets fun. Overall it’s a good story that follows an imperfect MC in a world full of danger.

I’ve been reading some of the negative reviews and seeing how poor they were I felt I needed to post a critique. I’ve not read any chapters in some time but I got in about 500 chapters, without spoiling anything the MC got on a boat against his will with a friend. I’ll start with the good, the stability of updates is superb, you don’t feel bad paying for priv chapters. Supporting an author that is dedicated to a stable release schedule is great. Most of the plot points felt like they made sense though I’m sure I likely missed some payoffs in later chapters. My issues mostly had to do with the MC and his interpersonal relationships, at least by where I had gotten the MC was wishy washy in his relationships with the opposite sex. From how things were going it almost seemed like your gotta catch’em all Pokémon style harems. Except it seemed like the female characters also pursued other people which is the issue you run into when characters are based on historical and folklore characters. The majority of readers on Webnovel Ive observed like to invest in a couple and if something interferes in this it almost feels like NTR. Whether or not it goes down that route, I don’t know as I’m not at the current chapter. A few other minor issues with some of the world building, the MC ends up using a unique method for his path to power. But it’s deemed as dangerous or weak by others. But the entity teaching him does so for a reason, it’s hard to believe that something like this would be unknown. But perhaps this is something explained later on.

The author is very good at setting up a story. He writes interesting characters and sets up a solid foundation for whichever world that he’s currently writing. The issue is the follow through this being his third book the pattern will follow a steady increase in chapters until eventually dropping the series altogether. At the start of August 2022 he promised a number of bonus chapters. He added a priv tier eating some of those bonus chapters but promised 8 bonus chapters. As a reward for high tier gift he gave bonus chapters, at least he calls them that. Throughout the month he replace about 8 chapters with fake bonus chapters. And missed a further 4 releases so in 22 days that adds up to 20 missing or bonus chapters. Author has some of the most expensive priv chapters on the site, the purchase of which includes an understanding that a certain number of chapters will be released in a month. Missing some chapters wouldn’t be an issue if bonus chapters weren’t also promised and not delivered. As it is while the story is good there’s no point in reading a story that won’t be completed. Look at authors other books for reference.

Those were my exact thoughts, I’ve seen a few stories like that and they are jarring as you keep on comparing them. I got to the end of versatile mage and quite enjoyed it.

Makes sense I suppose that he was an action away from changing alignments reminds me of the YouTube videos where they take an interesting character and plop them at a starting alignment and move the needle on major descisions. Though to be fair I’ have been fine with MC doing unspeakable things to his childhood bully.

I’ll start by saying that what I read seems well written for the most part I rated the book low because There wasn’t a review pointing out a few items that I think are important. One of the auxiliary chapters talks about alignments, I got to chapter 42 and the MC seems closer to neutral evil to me as opposed to Chaotic Neutral. The MC seemed quite pleased with the despair exhibited by a character when she found food missing. Everything from the bait to the trap to me points to evil. Some people like evil MCs but I don’t, I can get behind the actions from the prologue but both interactions the MC had with people don’t seem neutral to me. Reminds me of a character from elsewhere, a great healer but while healing she would activate the pain receptors in her patients as she liked causing pain and it was her price for the healing. Obviously she was an antagonist.
