This is beginning to sound eerily similar to the us military giving its soldiers meth in the past. Hope it doesn't end the same way.

If he was a mundane human, his heart would have probably exploded just from one of these unassuming patches. The government didn't joke around with its military tech.

I know this is a late response but the question is rhetorical in nature. You missed nothing. More of just highlighting why it would be suspicious

Why would an innocent individual attack the guards of a town? He hadn't done anything wrong, and attacking a force far more powerful than himself for no reason made no sense.
