Stephan chuckled lightly, then crawled closer. He tilted his head, and his lips brushed against Jake's skin. The next instant, a butterfly kiss—so brief Jake thought he had imagined it—was placed upon his neck, near his Adam's apple. After that, Stephan gently sucked and pulled on his skin. Not hard enough to hurt, but enough to leave a mark behind.

Who knows what went through Stephan's head when he worked on the design, but it resulted in something between a cat and a devil, and the guy even had the guts to use pastel-like colors. Thankfully, they weren't the flashy kinds and married well with each other. Regardless, Misha wasn't particularly happy to wear pink, nor was he happy with the bell hanging below his collar. The cat ears and horns atop his head were also cumbersome, same with the tiny wings on his back and the two intertwined tails falling behind his legs. And to top it all, Stephan prepared a pink ribbon to tie his hair at the crown of his neck! How much more conscientious could he get?!

"Fine. I'll tell you one experience, but only one," Jake interrupted, tightening his grip on Stephan's hand until the bones of his fingers seemed to crack. "Once, he hired thugs to beat me up. Nothing too bad here, and nothing new either. The problem arose when they shoved live crickets down my throat. Did you know that if you swallow them without chewing them, crickets or similar bugs will cling to your throat and trachea? This is because their legs have little spines that allow them to attach themselves to your windpipe and esophagus walls. And, of course, you can't forcefully shake them off as you would with your hands as they're stuck inside you. The fun thing is that they block your windpipe once they cluster together, and you can't breathe."

Jake sighed. When he compared the current Tristan to the Tristan of his previous lives, guilt tugged at his conscience. If only he had paid more attention to his little brother, things would have turned out differently. But he had been a coward, too afraid of his mother's ire to do anything. He convinced himself that Tristan was doing fine when he wasn't.

Misha responded by burying his head in his hands, feeling like crying even if he had no tears to shed. He had to make sure they didn't find out that he slept on the same bed as Gabriel, or else he'd never hear the end of it! Why were teenagers so fond of gossiping about people's love lives, anyway…? Didn't they realize how wrong it was to insinuate he was screwing around with an adult nearly nine years his elder? Goodness, it'd be a crime on Gabriel's side! Argh, they were driving him crazy!

Misha's indignant tone made Gabriel laugh slightly. Before, the fact that Jake shared half of his blood was something that disgusted him. Now, however, he was glad blood ties bound them. Calling Jake his brother didn't leave a bad taste in his mouth anymore. Instead, it brought about a warm feeling.

To this, Jake said nothing. Instead, an unfathomable expression flashed across his face as he averted his eye. Whether Tristan was a resilient kid or something else was up to debate, but he wouldn't bring it up for now. Gabriel and Misha were close to Tristan in this life, so perhaps things wouldn't go in the same direction as they did in their previous lives. With how much Gabriel and Misha spoiled and loved Tristan, Jake could not help but hope that things would turn out differently. This time, perhaps his little brother wouldn't grow up into a monster.

Jake pushed the man away with a grunt. And again, a hearty laugh resounded in the bedroom as Stephan consented to sit a little farther. Yet, he did not take his eyes off of Jake's face, still smiling as he looked at the man's grumpy expression. Yeah, the eye patch suited him, very much so, but that wasn't what was making his heart race.

Albeit with an unhappy look on his face, Jake didn't avoid the man's hands and allowed him to change the eye patch. Stephan had bent over to do so, shortening the distance between them considerably. It made Jake unconsciously hold in his breath, his eye falling upon the man's lips. Close, too close! Enough that he could feel the warm breath brush against his skin, against his mouth. Just a bit more and they'd kiss.

Jake was interrupted mid-sentence as Stephan took him in his mouth, startling him into moaning. At the same time, the man held onto his hips so that he wouldn't wriggle away, preventing him from escaping. Stephan ignored his cry of protest and swallowed the half-hard shaft down to its hilt, his lips closely shut around the member. He then went up and down, again and again.

Jake closed his eye, the warmth left by Stephan's lips lingering on his neck. It felt strangely pleasant—reassuring, even. 'Maybe playing pretend with Stephan won't be so bad, after all.' The fleeting thought crossed his mind as Jake fell asleep, lulled by Stephan's regular breathing. For once, his night wasn't plagued by nightmares.
