As i said before I understand your point of view although i still find it a bit naive. Maybe my opinion is just pessimistic thinking about all the possible dangers of one piece world without plot armor.

You are using our modern world morals, this is a pirate world where killing is normal. Although one piece is kind of civilized world, it is still survival of the fittest kind of world. It is better to be ruthless so you don’t leave enemies behind and it comes back to bite you and your crew in the future.
