My understanding is there is someone who translates/edits. The author is far from terrible and anyone with half a brain can figure out who was really meant.

"It was now or never." Picking up the juice pouch, Logan lifted it up, and started to squirt into his stomach. It was hard, but he continued to gulp it down, but it was as if his whole body was refusing to take it down, as it seemed to want to come back up with the other food he had already eaten as well.

Once again though—Quinn used the flash step to avoid the next set of shots. Quinn only had enough stamina to perform three flash steps in one game, so he had already used up over half his strength and his body was tied.

I think Arthur wants Quinn to get stronger and needed him to think he had to do it alone. I dont think Arthur is bad, I think there is something else going on

Back to the first emotion, confusion. Arthur was a vampire that had lived for a long time, he wasn't stupid and he too would have known although the injuries were devastating, unless killed he would have lived. So what was the point of even injuring him to that point in the first place if he was sign to let him go? Was there a need to go that far?
