Every step I took sent a flurry of mosquitoes towards my face. How that girl had survived so long out here alone with all of these pestering bugs was beyond me. I was starting to regret not bringing bug spray to at least protect myself a little. I wasn't sure if bug spray would harm the fairies though so I had left it behind. An exhausted groan left my lips as I swatted my hand at the air in a failed attempt to chase the insects away as I waited impatiently.

Once I was out of the shower, I would make my way to the closet past the now wide awake and hyper dog. The weather was getting alot crisper as fall shifted to winter, which meant I would have to wear warmer clothes. Having decided on a yellow blue and white cropped sweatshirt and faded ripped jeans for the day, I would plop down at my desk. A small blush creeping up upon my cheeks as I went over what I typed out on the word doc.

“You drooled.” His cheerful voice cut off my thoughts as a deep blush covered my face. Quickly bringing my sleeve across my lips and chin to clear the drool from my skin, I’d let out a small sigh.

The surrounding forest had grown darker, bringing out my fears, like the fear of what lurked in that darkness, of being alone, of death. I could feel that something was coming, yet I had no clue what that something could be. I could feel it in the way my hair had stood on end across my arms and the back of my neck, goosebumps following right after. I could feel the ache from the run take a toll on my body, my legs burning, and my breathing labored. I couldn’t bring myself to stop.
