Even King Reuben was likely to take issue with the golem rune, given Wedon's longstanding wariness of Riftan. It seemed unlikely that Reuben III would quietly accept Anatol possessing such a powerful rune.

Can’t remember… Have they explained somewhere how this golem will work? Will she be able to control the enemy or is she creating a new golem. If that’s the case is it just the one golem per magic stone or what? What is a single (or few) golems going to do agains a wast army of 6000 undead? Feels like I’ve missed something here…

I think king Ruben is totally aware of what’s going on. if the orthodox fraction really succeeds in their endeavor and the old Roem return in some form it would give Maxi a strong political status as prob one of the few descendants of the royal family still living. Even Richard B figured this out. His relationship with Maxi hasn’t been the best with trying to take her husband for his own daughter and the whole fiasco after the last war with her father. He prob realizes he needs/want Maxi on his side as ally and with that Riftan (since Rifty will always be on Maxis side). So he needs to up his game..

I don’t think she will ever resent him. In the end she will love him for everything he’s done for her and put the blame and resentment on her self. And if she gets a chance to tell him that then he will end up hating himself for it.

Riftan shut his eyes tightly. He would willingly bear her resentment if it meant protecting her from the chaos and danger surrounding him.

What I don’t understand is what makes Riftan so sure she will be safe at the tower? Surely if there is an all out war throughout the seven kingdoms the tower will be obligated to send mages. Who gets send first? Well prob mages with any form of war experience. Hence Maxi would be one of the first to be sent. So she could end up anywhere.. without him even knowing less being able to protect her. Seems like such an odd and shortsighted decision to make for someone who’s been pretty smart throughout this whole book.

Feels like he started of thinking that she should just go back to WT for a couple of years untill the worst is over and then return (based on the argument he had with maxi) but that’s not what’s going to happen, specially if the doesn’t tell her anything. If she decides to go to WT I would suspect that would be it. If he drives her to the point that she’s leaving she will never come back. And sometimes I wonder if he’s even contemplated that.
