you can just recover them, if you've got sewing skills it's not even that hard.

Unfortunately, their quality was starting to decline as the cloth and leather used on them was beginning to degrade and mold, and Marcus figured he would have to get rid of them.

honestly, why did he/her even buy that fancy cart...

Of course, had Blitz gone at full speed they could have arrived in just a dozen or so minutes, but Marcus did not want to shake Lilia up before starting her training.

11 year old girl, not 3...

'I guess she just wants to connect with me like she used to with Irene. I did bath with my sister back on Earth when I was younger and as long as I stay in Irene's form it should be fine. Anyway, she really does feel like my little sister and it is not like I am really a guy anymore since I am more like a creature that is both and neither sex at the same time now.'

...you mean that super-rude officer, that drevon? ...did he make her like that from his harassment or does he have interesting taste in women?

"Don't think I did not notice that veiled threat you gave that young lady. You have always been like this trying to manipulate people to do what you want never being able to say what you really mean. Whenever there is a girl you like you torment them because you do not know how to express your feelings. Like that poor Drevon girl, if you do not break this bad habit you are never going to get married."

why is it acid burn not freeze burn?

Marcus used his tier one healing magic spell to help as many of the people who were in too much pain to function once the ice acid had been melted off of them.

actually read a first hand account by the knight who commanded the crusaders who burned Constantinople. They were a bunch of rowdy jackasses from important families who were being exiled in all but name in order to stop them from stirring up trouble. they were impossible to control and when a fight broke out it turned into a riot and the pope justified it after the fact by declaring the eastern church heretics.

Because the Byzantines were not considered heretics by the west by the time that the Crusades were declared. When the Holy Land was retaken from the Saracens, it was granted to the Byzantine Empire as they had the most rightful claim to the land. Thus The Byzantine Empire remained a powerhouse in the Mediterranean and never suffered the massive losses from the Fourth Crusade, which eventually would lead to its destruction not too far in the future.

taliban is not really the rightful state either. they took advantage of the power vacuum left when the Russians gave up. Afghanistan hasn't had a rightful government for the people by the people since shortly after the Russians invaded. about 40 years ago now I believe...

I mean, sure, the Afghan National Army could use the bridge for tactical purposes, but could they seriously not build it themselves? That was obviously a rhetorical question he was asking himself, as he was well aware of the degree of competency he could expect from the ANA and was not impressed.

so...an extremely typical modern design for an office building. How...exciting...for an internationally renowned designer.

"We're going with a raw but modern industrial look for your office. Something simple yet timeless. Most offices, especially the tech ones tend to go for that sleek futuristic look but something about those just screams spaceship. We want to exude innovation and cutting edge without making it seem so literal." Veronica explained as they went through the designs. "Although the theme will be industrial, we'll go with black and white colors to make it more sophisticated. We'll incorporate some of the existing structural elements this building already had. And most of the colors would be from the furniture."

it's like Cedric wants Adri to figure it out on her own, he's leaving so many breadcrumbs

When Ian entered he was treated with respect by everyone in the Hernandez family, he was after all the assistant to the heir of Reyes Group.

hopefully Veronica will be smart enough to consult with Adri before doing anything

"Ian, talk to Veronica. I want her to do the Mountain View house as well. This time tell her not to rush. I want this place to be perfect, I plan to show it to my wife when it's done and ready to live in." Ian nodded as he took down notes.

...you don't know women that well, do you? If it's already prepped, all of your good intentions will be thrown out the window when she redoes the interior to her own taste. It would be better to show her the bare space and let her dream, then make all her wishes for the perfect couple nest come true.

Cedric thought about the house, he wasn't going to tell Adrianna about it just yet, he wanted her to come home to a place that was already prepared for her. It would be complete with all the appliances and staff that they would need. He called for Ian and Camilla to come into his office.

with a wife like that, he'd be nagged to death if he ever explicitly defended Cedric

"Thank you, sir." Cedric and Charles got along decently. Charles never said anything against Cedric, but he never defended him either.

who actually talks like this?

"Yeah! One of the Directors actually likes Miss Adrianna. He might be a little bit older but he has the means to support a beauty like her."

...he only has to because *PLOT*. IRL, he'd totes just be honest with his wife.

"I found love, but I've been lying to her since the day we met. I'm not even sure how she will take the news." Cedric looked down. He knew the moment Adrianna checked that bank card she would have a thousand and one questions. He had a lie ready, he hated that he had to lie to her, but he had to.

Outside Adrianna touched up her makeup in the women's room. As she turned to leave she bumped into someone she had not seen since their university days, Lorisa De Jesus.

Adrianna has a much more patient temperament than me. I'd have stopped showing up to anything but weddings and funerals by this point and moved out if my mom behaved this way to my boyfriend let alone my husband.

"Mom. Stop. Just stop." Adrianna was already furious at this point. She understood that her family did not accept Cedric, but they had been married for five years now, and the whole Hernandez family never stopped making comments against Cedric.
