TL;DR the author changes the story development, world background, and parts of the power system after 250 with little to no notice and no transition. What started off good quickly devolved. Around chapter 250 there was a change in the story. things changed.. Stories often start changing due to many factors audiences feedback the view of the author etc. However the changes that occur here are somewhat drastic. originally I would have given the novel 4 across the board no qualms. However after reading to about chapter 300 to see if anything could be explained or justified about the change I feel that new readers should be informed about what they are about to read. world settings: while the world setting stays majorly the same certain aspects of the world have been slightly altered making things that happened in the past strange. The world is a mix of modern technology and cultivation. on one hand you have private jets cell phones and on the other you have a 'high ranking' member of the church being escorted through the woods in a horse drawn carige being chased down by enemies with no way to contact a city for help. next there are changes in the ranking system of beasts As well as lore about certain beasts. Dragons where introduced as rare apex creatures with none being tamed known the 'federation' for over 100's of years. And then there is mention of a dragon city where dragon based tamed creatures are more 'common'(not common but people seem to have dragons). Next something common early on and infant a key factor in the rise of the protagonists strength is that a older man paid a huge amount of money to contract a new beast yet later on it is said once a person reaches the age of 18(adulthood) they can no longer contract pets. A few more points on this, the protagonists principal who is over 70 years old. had acquired new beasts since he parted ways with his old company then nemesis. they had parted ways 20 years prior to the story, meaning he had to aquire these beasts after he reached 18 or 'adulthood'. Normally I can gloss over small things or some things that don't quiet make sense because things that occur in novels are their own worlds. However whole being critical of the novel and leaving a review I feel that I should fully explain why I am leaving the ratting I am leaving. This take place in a parallel Earth where certain things are different which alots for societal changes, geographical changes, and different customs. The world that the protagonist is transported to seems to have a federal monarchy where a group of individual collective form a joint unit under a central king. where some (we will call them regions as that is the most fitting description) regions are run by an assortment of power systems. We have a city ruled by a federal court system with a clear differentiation of inner and outer city delimited by wealth. there are novels and commoners. but then there is also a region that is governed by its Nobel who's family was granted a family kingship by the king of the federation many generations ago. The entire region from the land to the people are considered property of said king. then moving to the third region with no mentions of novels it is ruled by a city lord. I get that in a federal monarchy you can have many kingship and various states ruling over different regions however if there is a federal court system under the king of the federation how is it that every single cities ruling class other than the king of the 'heavenly' region a.k.a the king of the federation has been introduced as corrupt/evil/ or bought off. Granting everything else a pass in accordance to parallel fantasy world scenario we can move onto some things that had a sudden/rapid change in the span of what seems to be 1 chapter. The protagonist is 8n no means portrayed as a saintly otherworldly hero that comes to save the world and marry a princess. He has been shown from the beginning to be someone who does what needs to be done for his own goals while staying on the side of relative good. He has been depicted as a having a one night stand with a couple of 'celebrities' and he kills when he is offended and it is in 'accordance' to the law. but at a certain point in the novel he goes to work for the royal family so he can acquire materials to upgrade his beasts, in the process he meets and developes and agreement with a woman to work together gathering materials for their own purposes. Later on he meets his partners 'sister' (sister diciples) as an antagonist who he has to stop on behest of the royal family. long story short she falls in love with him as he flirts with both sisters... He stops her evil plan and she is redeemed.... Durring the end of the arc his partner is said to tactfully give way so that the protagonist and her sister can say goodbye as she has been elected governor of a region as well as recieved a royal punishment to not leave a certain city for 5 years. Cut to there 'goodbye' where they check into a random hotel where a 90%+ approval ratting governor is not recognized They check in have a night of passion (she also became a Virginia when I was implied that she wasn't based on conversations between her and her sister) and then the next day the protagonist decides to travel the world with her as his companion..... the next day he tells this to the royal agents(team he had been working with) who would die to follow royal orders.... and presumably the 'sister' he had partnered with and at that point the royal secretary who is in charge of the royal agents and what seems to be the federal policing/justice system and what happens..... They happily send him off joking about marriage and kids... No mention of the other 'love rival' the position of 'govenor' or the supposed royal punishment. previous story and plot just out the window. next is the function of his 'system' systems are magical and work in ways that can't be comprehended by us mere mortals. But originally his system could be used to enhance and evolve his pets(I saw evolve but it doesn't save evolve but in essence and practice it is evolving.) he has to pay a combination of materials and function points he receives from doing system appointed quests. from previous story at most He could have had 2000-3000 points after the whole lover governor arc. But then he evolves one of his beasts by conducting a blood sacrifice of his other beasts As well as some humans with no mention of points or materials.... Also his original yellow dragon, that no one believes is a dragon is suddenly called a divine light dragon and recognized by everyone by the ne divine light dragon. As an aforementioned fact there exists cell phones and technology. While the protagonist is one of the strongest forces who worked for the royal family.... he isn't shown to have a phone or any way to contact the royal family..... even though he originally contacted them to let them know he would work for them. These points are why I have put writing quality and story development at one star. While the quality of itself isn't bad the huge plot changes and story changes have left this as a poor quality. it's as if a author started re writing the story in the middle of the novel. world background originally 4 but changing your own world without any reason when a major chunk of established story goes against it leads to a broken world development. Character design the characters themselves aren't bad with unique traits and personalities and quiet a few having had interesting story development.
