you have a point and the same goes for the others opinion on the character's values... the only fact is that it is a story with characters and events which is fictitious but fundamentally based on reality. "if they exist" and "if it happens" in a person's life. The story is fiction but the aim is to create realistic characters and events. Meaning there should at least be some logic to why a character would act like he/she does and why events happen the way it did. View More

pumpkinsoup: There is nothing scientifically proven that an aphrodisiac makes you lose control of your mental capabilites. There is nothing that proves that you would bang anything with two legs and a hole. An aphrodisiac, just makes you more aroused and heightens your senses or your mental sexual desire. They still have control of themselves mentally and do have to do what he did. Oh what's even more interesting is that we do not know if she gave it to him. He thinks she drugged him because of his illness, it will probably come out that she didn't, an aphrodisiac cannot change an illness. Last but not least, if you do not like the book and the character's moral values. Do not read it, the book is for entertainment, not a book on moral values. Just enjoy it. Stop acting like it's real life.

well, real life villain is more vile. i've watched documentaries where the husband and wife's bestfriend killed the wife for the life insurance money and 2 brothers killed their parents for the same. Also, a famous canadian force colonel who's actually a serial rapist with a wierd fetish (David Russell Williams), so I'm not so iffed by using this kind of plot lines. but, just the storytelling itself should be better. The sequence of events properly paced and clearly told. Then again, not everyone can write a good novel. It's easier to read and judge so I try to be more constructive in my feedbacks. View More

is it just the translation or the story itself that's off? I'm just reading it at face value. there are better lightnovel of similar genre out there but I'm reading this and taking it very lightly. The charm of this story for me is the straightforwardness and not much complication to wade through. It's a great read in between complicated and strategic light novels. View More

a dragon and phoenix symbolises royalty or prestige. The dragon is the emperor and the phoenix is the queen. in this case, it's not exactly as straightforward but I assume, she will become someone great. View More

yep, I'm from the Philippines. There is that silent "standard" thing. Fair skinned locals are considered "richly" in a sense that our race is generally tanned and most fair skinned local are mixed race. City people are usually fairer skinned than countryside folks. as you mentioned, countryside occupations are usually jobs under the sun, farming, fishing and such. View More

Miss_NC: I don't know the exact setting of this timeline or world. But I believe the 'dark face' shaming here is not with a racial intention. Even before China comes into contact with outside of China people, the fair and white face is the beauty standard (I think). It is not like now that had white, black, brown people things. It is more like if you had fair and white skin you are of well-off family, so your social standing is higher and people treats you better. Of course if you comes from well-off family yet still had darker shade skin, the speculation will be wilder like you had lots of impurities in you, and the superstitious behind it (Asian, for me, had many superstitious belief). Imagine having all fair and white skins pampered ladies in one place and only she had a dark skins, of course she will sticks out and pointed out (more so that the original's personalities had quite a reputation). Like some region of ancient China that believed they are more well of and cultured than some other region that is believed to be more barbaric. Their living environment and cultures had differences and when they mingled, stereotype of darker skin is from more barbaric ethnic is born.

I don't know other countries but I believe this is the thing in Asian. Example here, I am living in Malaysia but born in Indonesia, there is a stereotype in both country or maybe from the community I lived in, that those that had darker skins than the standards are from poor family that do hard labours like constructions and out in the sun. So it is not as highly regarded. When I was in middle school, there is also stereotype of orphan kids will had darker skin overall (ridicolous, I know). Of course it is not all true but that is the stereotype. I watched an interview before and it seems in Philippine (I think) there is also this kind of stereotype. Is this also considered racial element?

This novel is all about OP.
Story sequencing is good. Author lays out potential quest early so readers won:'t be confused on sudden mission.
It's light but not fluffy, it's a little intricate but not overwhelming. It's also reasonable and unreasonable at the same time. I personally like it. View More

So far, this is one of the best I've read. The world building is more rgan hust decent, the story flow is not broken, including back stories.
It's a whole mix of everything without being too overwhelming.
I highly recommend it if you like to pretend you're a science and math whiz with Harry Potter or The Ring vibe to it. View More

fluffyflufffluff: i'm less bithered by the 3wks to 3mos thing. authors sometimes miscalculates the timeline of the story. if he did not soecify the number of weeks and only said. a couple of weeks, you wouldn't even notice it coz he wouldnt write about each day anyway
