Capítulo 19: Diao Chan
She returned from cleaning herself as her clothes were wet from her skin. The clothes now really showed her figure making Zhao Yun see why her mother was hiding her.
"What is your name by the way? My name is Zhao Yun, but you can call me Zilong if you want to," says Zhao Yun as he was looking at her quite a lot.
He could see that her nipples were hard from the cold water as her clothes weren't helping as she was feeling cold when Zhao Yun takes his black cape from his armor and gives it to her so she could warm-up.
"I don't really have a name but my mother used to call me Chan when we were alone," says Chan as something clicked in Zhao Yun's head.
'It can't be Diao Chan. She would have been adopted by Wang Yun by now. Did something change that she is on the street,' thinks Zhao Yun as he looked quite puzzled at Chan who seemed to be a beauty out of this world.
"Do you want to travel with me? You can pose as my wife and no one would molest you when you stay in the inn while I go to the Imperial Palace to present evidence to a case to show the innocence of a benefactor of my father and mine," says Zhao Yun as he explained it to Chan who seemed flustered and was red.
Zhao Yun walked over as he thought that she could have caught a sickness from the cold as he touches her forehead to see if it was a cold.
"What are you doing?" asks Chan as she misunderstood Zhao Yun before thinking that he wanted to marry her.
"Just looking if you were fine. It's cold in the night and you cleaned yourself and your clothes got wet because you didn't have anything to dry yourself," says Zhao Yun as he then touched her right cheek feeling that she was a little warm.
"You should sleep beside Thunder and Snowflake tonight. They will keep you warm," says Zhao Yun worried about her as the night could turn quite cold and kill someone not adjusted to them.
"Thunder and Snowflake?" asks Chan as she looked confused when Thunder gave noise out of himself as he was laying down while Snowflake was sitting on Thunder's ribcage meawing at Chan.
"They will keep you warm. I still have Shadow to accompany me," says Zhao Yun as Shadow landed on his shoulder making Chan's eye sparkle from seeing all the animals Zhao Yun had.
"They are all yours?" asks Chan as she picked Snowflake up.
The tiger kitten was fighting against the hug it was receiving as he was pressed between two mounts that made Zhao Yun quite jealous seeing his kitten in there.
"You should go to sleep if you want to travel with me since I need to get to the capital," says Zhao Yun as he really tried hard to look away from Chan that turned only more beautiful with every second they stayed together.
"I still haven't answered to your marriage proposal and you are going to sleep like that," says Chan as Zhao Yun now looked confused at her not knowing what she was talking about.
"What marriage proposal are we talking about?" asks Zhao Yun as Chan looked at him now seriously making him remember the same face his mother would do when he did something wrong making him sweat a bit while saying, "Right the Marriage Proposal, what is your answer?"
"I accept as long as you promise not to become like the men that my mother warned me about," says Chan naively as Zhao Yun laughed at hearing that making Chan look at him saying, "What do you have a problem with that."
"No problem but how do you know that I'm not one of those guys your mother warned you about," says Zhao Yun as he stood a step away from her while she only looked into his eyes and he did the same seeing her beautiful green eyes resembling emeralds.
'Those eyes are quite uncommon around here,' thinks Zhao Yun as he then touches her hair and sees that it is brown.
Chan was quite nervous as she then says, "Your eyes are different than the eyes of the other men that I encountered so far. I could escape them by running into the wilds but I was quite lucky to run into you."
"Your eyes are quite beautiful and suit your hair as well," says Zhao Yun making her go red before letting go of her hair.
"Your eyes are beautiful as well. They are like the sky," says Chan as Zhao Yun smiles at her.
"You are the first except for my mother to like my eyes. All the other girls try to look into them and look away right away when they look too deeply into it. You hold that stare quite good," says Zhao Yun as he walked towards a tree and sat while laying against it.
"But we should go to sleep for tonight. Tomorrow we will travel to Huai and rest there. I will have to buy you some new clothes so you can pose as my wife in Luoyang," says Zhao Yun as the clothes Chan were wearing were quite shabby for someone of the Zhao Household.
Chan laid against Thunder as he was keeping her warm with Snowflake while Zhao Yun was holding his sword and Shadow was sleeping on the three.
The next morning Zhao Yun woke up quite early as he went hunting with Shadow to get their breakfast as they returned with a bird and some eggs as Zhao Yun thinks, 'Sorry little ones but I need to eat too.'
The cooks them in the fire as Chan wakes up to the smell of the food and sees the bird getting a nice tan when Zhao Yun says, "Good Morning, did you sleep well."
"Yes," says Chan as she looked at the fire seeing the eggs in it while the bird was over it.
"Did you hunt it this morning?" asks Chan as Zhao Yun takes the wings from the bird and gives them to Snowflake.
Then he takes the legs and gives them to Thunder as he splits the rest in two giving half to Chan and Shadow when he was about to put his hand in the fire when Chan stops him.
"Are you crazy? You could have burned your hand that way," says Chan angry as she was holding Zhao Yun's hand.
'Right, normally you would burn your hand by putting it in the fire,' thinks Zhao Yun as he smiled at her and uses his sword to take the eggs out of the fire.
He then peels the shell before eating the eggs making the three eggs his breakfast when he takes a gourd out that had drinkable water in it.
He takes a sip before giving it to Chan while saying, "You will need a family name if we are going into the capital."
"How about Wang or Lu? It would be the best not to use my real family name since I escaped the capital," says Chan as she was thinking of another family name while drinking the water.
"How about Diao Chan? It sounds good together and it suits you quite well," says Zhao Yun as he smiled at her making her see the handsomeness of Zhao Yun that she couldn't see last night.
"It sounds nice," says Diao Chan as she handed the gourd over to Zhao Yun when Thunder stood up after eating seeing how tall Thunder was shocked her quite a bit.
"Is Thunder really a horse?" asks Diao Chan as Thunder seemed offended by that remark.
"He is an Endbringer. They are the Royalty under the horses. You will see while we travel to Huai," says Zhao Yun as he put Snowflake in his clothes again while mounting Thunder.
He takes Diao Chan's hand and helps her up as she was sitting in front of him between his arms so she couldn't fall off from Thunder's back. Shadow was sitting in her usual place on Thunder's head.
Thunder took off as they arrived at Huai almost when the gate closed as they were still allowed inside because of the message for the capital.
Many saw the rags that Zhao Yun carried on his belt that were drenched in old blood making it obvious that they must be the heads of important people that he killed and wanted to present to the Emperor.
They were quite afraid of Zhao Yun as his sky blue eyes scared them easily even if he didn't want to do so as they arrived at an inn with a stable when he left Thunder in it while entering with Diao Chan.
Many people stared at them as Zhao Yun was in armor while Diao Chan was in shabby clothes when Zhao Yun walked towards the Innkeeper and says, "A room with two beds."
He puts the money down and the Innkeeper says, "Right away."
He hands them a key and Zhao Yun asks, "Where can I buy some clothes around here?"
"Just leave the Inn and take the right walk the street down and the second house after the crossing you are where you want to go. The shopkeeper is old Wang but his daughter is dealing with clothes for woman," says the Innkeeper as he knew that Zhao Yun wanted to buy some clothes for his company.
"Thank you," says Zhao Yun as he places another two coins on the counter while leaving the Inn with Diao Chan.
They walked down the street and they found the clothing store as they entered and an old man saw them and says, "Welcome to my store. I'm Wang Yi but you can call me Old Wang if you want. What do you need from my store?"
"Clothes for my wife. She had an accident and needs new clothes, cosmetics, and jewelry," says Zhao Yun as Old Wang could see that as he looked at Diao Chan who was beside Zhao Yun.
"I will call my daughter she can help you in this better than I," says Old Wang as he went inside to get his daughter as she came out holding some clothes she was sewing together.
"Hello, my father told me you needed clothes right. Just follow me," says Old Wang's daughter when she stops and says, "Right, my name is Wang Qi."
Wang Qi brought them deeper into the shop as clothes were hanging in the air on fine wires. Diao Chan tried some on as Zhao Yun fall in love with a dress that was crimson with some yellow linings on the ends resembling gold.
"We will buy that one," says Zhao Yun as Diao Chan looked confused at Zhao Yun who spoke out unconsciously.
"Sorry, I just thought it looked perfect on you," says Zhao Yun as Diao Chan smiled at him making his heart pond faster for a moment when she bought some cosmetics from Wang Qi as well.
"For Jewelry, you should go across the street Old Yi has the best for little money," says Wang Qi as Zhao Yun paid Wang Qi, who bought the cosmetics by sending her son down the street to buy them for them while Diao Chan was trying the dresses.
They went across the street and he brought Diao Chan some earrings matching her eyes as well as a necklace matching the earrings as he blows almost all of his allowance out of the window for her before returning to the inn.
Zhao Yun bought two dresses, two nightgowns, one pair of earrings, and a necklace. They all matched together perfectly in his eyes as he thought she could wear anything.
He stored them away in his ring while playing with his saddle that Thunder had. Then he returned into the inn as they are dinner before retreating to their room. Shadow was sitting on the window frame and Snowflake was beside her as Zhao Yun gives them a plate of dumplings he could bring up.
Diao Chan changed into her nightgown in front of Zhao Yun who didn't look away as he saw her beautiful body.
"Can you help me? I'm not accustomed to such clothes," says Diao Chan as Zhao Yun helps her get out and she puts the nightgown on while her face was completely red realizing that Zhao Yun saw everything.
"Good Night," says Diao Chan as she jumped into her bed rapidly to forget what happened while peeking at Zhao Yun who was taking his armor off making her see that under the armor he is only muscles as he put his sword against his bed so he could grab it rapidly.
Snowflake laid down beside Zhao Yun while Shadow was sleeping on the window frame when Zhao Yun says, "Good Night everyone."
