Capítulo 42: Wei Ru
Yun carried Wei Yan towards the Inn where Yun took Thunder out of his stable and mounted him with Wei Yan sitting in front of him while guiding Dian Wei's new horse. They left Xiangyang to travel to a nearby village in which Wei Yan lived.
Once there Yun dismounted from Thunder before helping Wei Yan down. They walked to the hut Wei Yan called his home which was on the outside of the village.
There Wei Yan ran into the hut only to get hit by a stick for running away from his mother. Yun then entered the hut and sees Wei Yan bend over the knee of his mother while being punished by the stick.
"Who are you?" asks Wei Yan's mother as Yun gives a slight bow to her since he was in her house.
"I am Zhao Yun, the new master of your son," says Yun as he was quite humble about his origin not wanting to mention his position.
"I am Wei Ru, the mother of your no-good student," says Wei Ru as she felt like she heard Yun's name before.
"Well, I can understand why you punished him and I would have done the same if my son or daughter did the same," says Yun as he wasn't against Wei Ru disciplining Wei Yan for running away from home without saying anything.
"This is General Zhao Yun, the General who
Pacified the North," says Wei Yan as he tried to escape his mother's clutches only to get grabbed by his mother.
Wei Ru kneeled down and bowed her head touching the ground while placing her son's head on the ground as well trying to apologize for speaking so formally with a General.
"We aren't worthy of your presence," says Wei Ru as Yun sat down on the ground crossing his legs.
"Oh you are," says Yun as he smiled at them.
"Raise your head," says Yun as Wei Ru did as asked of her.
"Your son did something remarkable by entering Xiangyang without getting noticed by the guards. This made me want to take him under my wings. But I have an offer for you," says Yun looking into Wei Ru's eyes to see her honesty.
"Which is?" asks Wei Ru confused.
She was already in her late thirties which meant that Yun wasn't going after her body and she couldn't see any lust in his eyes.
"My wife needs some helping hands and since Wei Yan is coming with me to Zhending I don't want to separate him from his mother. This brings us to my offer of becoming a personal maid of my wife," says Yun as Wei Ru was surprised that Yun wanted her as a personal maid for his wife.
Wei Ru was in shabby clothes that are dirty and filled with holes and her hair and skin were dirty as well making her look older than she already is.
"And you would someone like me serve your wife," says Wei Ru as Yun nods.
"I need honest people to serve her. I don't care from which background they come as long as they serve her honestly," says Yun as he looked at Wei Ru when he stands up and continues, "Clothes and cleanliness don't form a person. It is the character which forms a person."
Yun helped her up by grabbing her under the shoulder when he says, "And you are a straightforward character which makes me quite happy since that means she can rely on you to tell her the truth always."
"Is that all?" asks Wei Ru as Yun nods.
"Yes, you should take everything important and pack it. We are moving out right away," says Yun as Wei Ru and Wei Yan began to pack their things which they place on a blanket.
Wei Ru began to fold the blanket with everything inside. She then lifted it up and wanted to place it on her shoulders when Yun took it away from her.
"I will carry it until we are in Xiangyang," says Yun as he only needed one hand to carry it.
They walked out and the sun was on the horizon beginning to show itself as Yun helped Wei Ru onto Dian Wei's horse before he mounted Thunder with Wei Yan.
They rode slowly towards Xiangyang and the streets were busy now that the sun was up. They arrived at the Inn Yun was staying and bring Thunder and Dian Wei's horse inside the stable before entering the Inn.
The others were sitting around a table except for Huang Xu and Ren which were in Huang Xu's room. She was teaching Huang Xu how to walk again.
Diao Chan notices Wei Ru and Wei Yan as they approached them. They reminded her of herself before she met Yun.
They arrived at the table and Yun could see that Gan Ning and Huang Zhong were glaring at each other while Dian Wei was there so they don't go further when Yun says, "You two should make peace with each other since you will be standing on the same side of the battlefield."
"Why did we need to recruit him again?" asks Huang Zhong angry.
"Because he will be leading my Naval Division once we have a one. But until then he will be the Squad Leader until he climbs the ranks as we did," says Yun firmly making Huang Zhong understand that Gan Ning won't leave them.
"Who have you brought with you?" asks Diao Chan smiling at Yun while her veil was covering her from her nose downwards her face.
Yun can easily tell when his wife is smiling even when she is wearing a veil while the Wei family had a mixture of reactions.
Wei Yan seemed more excited to meet his teacher's wife as she radiates beauty while Wei Ru felt a bit ashamed when Diao Chan stood up and took Wei Ru by her hand and says, "I will take her with me for a moment."
"My Lady,-" says Wei Ru when she was already getting pulled away by Diao Chan into her room where Diao Chan ordered a servant to bring her water to clean herself.
Diao Chan cleaned Wei Ru who was confused why Diao Chan would do this when Diao Chan says, "I used to be like you before I met Yun. My hair was dirty as well as my skin. He found me in the wilderness surviving on my own when he fell in love with me and I with him."
"Why are you telling me that, my Lady?" asks Wei Ru as Diao Chan finished cleaning Wei Ru.
"I just wanted to tell you that I and my husband don't care from where or what you were before joining us. But we just want one thing and that is loyalty. You have seen the big guy sitting at the table right?" says Diao Chan as Wei Ru nods.
"He used to be an assassin and is now my husband's bodyguard. Normally you wouldn't hire an assassin to be the one to cover your back but Yun trust Dian Wei," says Diao Chan as Wei Ru was surprised about that revelation.
Diao Chan then took out some of her clothes which she placed on the bed before taking the blue dress she bought but didn't use yet and gave it to Wei Ru to wear it.
Wei Ru looked stunning in this dress making her look like she was in her early thirties when they leave the room even Wei Yan was surprised by the beauty his mother was hiding behind the dirt.
Yun had already moved some stools to their table and they sat down as he ordered some dumplings filled with vegetables as breakfast, making Diao Chan say, "You really love dumplings, don't you?"
"What can I say. They are just the second-best that walked into my life with you being number one," says Yun as Wei Ru was surprised by how commonly they were talking to each other when a giant plate of dumplings arrived at their table.
"Eat we will have a long way before us. I also ordered to send some up to Huang Xu and Ren so they are full before we leave," says Yun when a servant brought a plate with milk on it.
This surprised Wei Ru and Wei Yan when the servant placed it on the ground and the tiger kittens rushed at milk which made Wei Yan and Wei Ru jump a bit Gan Ning twitched for a moment because he was surprised as well.
"Don't worry they are ours," says Yun as he picked one of them up so they could see that they are harmless.
Then placed it back down so it could drink with his brother and sisters. The group finished breakfast and Yun presented Wei Yan as his student and Wei Ru as Diao Chan's personal maid.
It was midday and time for them to leave to get back home. Yun had to buy an extra horse and a carriage making him now run low on pocket money but he bought some clothes for Wei Yan who was bathed by his mother.
Huntress was placed in front of the carriage with Diao Chan, Huang Xu, Wei Ru, and Ren inside it while Huang Zhong was pulling the reigns which angered Huntress but she followed orders because Diao Chan was in the carriage.
Gan Ning was using Huang Zhong's horse while Wei Yan got his horse from Yun. Dian Wei was on his new horse as well while Yun was on Thunder leading them.
It took them a week to return to Zhending which made the Zhao Family quite happy since they didn't have to postpone the wedding which would take place in less than two weeks.
Now Yun was searching for a place where his followers will stay when he remembered something and asks his father, "Is that house still for sale?"
"No, but it was good that you waited," says Xian as he pulls out a scroll which he hands to Yun.
"What is that?" asks Yun confused.
"You remember that some workers were working on something not even two months ago?" asks Xian as Yun nods.
"Yes, I remember that," says Yun as Xian smiles.
"It was the Sima Clan that was building some mansion out here for someone. Open the scroll," says Xian as Yun opened the scroll and opened his eyes wide.
"It seems they wanted to gain your favor since you are a rising star," says Xian as he couldn't believe it either after reading the scroll.
"They would gift me a whole mansion just to gain my favor," says Yun in disbelief knowing that the Sima Clan is a powerful Merchant Clan.
"I invited them to your wedding as well since it is a wedding gift of theirs after all," says Xian as Yun was still processing why the Sima Clan would do that.
The Mastermind is still a kid and not a teen which only leaves his oldest brother or father in question of trying to win him over.
