Capítulo 11: Paradise Island pt.2
"People are going bat-shit over it after a bloody magazine reported it." Roman continued, "There are still a lot of supporters but there are more people who hate your guts as they think you earned your wealth through war, officially crowning you the title of, 'The Merchant of Death'"
"It has a nice ring to it." Howard smiled, "And I did earn quite a lot through the war so they're not wrong."
"Your CEO doesn't know about your ability so he asked me to tell you to stay secure and not show your face around as much as possible, after all, the news has spread like wildfire with both the allies and central power along with your pretty face printed alongside the news. So there might be some people willing to just stab you to fulfill their dream of being Robinhood." Ronan passed over the newspaper as Howard looked at the black and white picture of him standing tall wearing a suit alongside three of his girlfriends beside him.
"I am guessing one of the girls sold the pictures?"
"You dated three of them at the same time so what kind of loyalty were you expecting especially after breaking up with all of them at once."
"Well it was a weird time, but I must say that even in this shitty picture I still look really good. Also quick suggestion, never date multiple women at once. Too much possessiveness."
Roman rolled his eyes, "The second news is an invitation."
"For what?"
"You better read it yourself." Roman handed the golden bordered letter to Howard who tore it through as he lazily skimmed through the whole thing.
"And here I thought I was finally invited to Hogwarts." Roman stood there giving him a look not knowing what the hell did Hogwarts even meant, " Sigh! So Hellfire club, huh?"
"It's an elite club for the rich." Roman said, "Basically lavish parties, orgies which I am not sure they do anymore, and everything rich people would hope for. That's the only thing I could find but even all that has been really secretive. I guess they are impressed with your wealth and ways with women so they've decided to invite you to the club."
Howard smirked knowing that the whole thing wasn't so simple. The whole club wasn't controlled by the mutants yet but still, the club was quite a feisty thing. Being a mutant and rich, he was sure he would be invited to the club in the future or at least come in contact with it but to be invited so soon was quite surprising. 'I guess building my way up first before anyone does would be helpful in the future to gain power and status.'
"Are you joining the club then?"
"Why not? It seems fun." Howard said, "And I think it would be quite interesting."
"Why so?"
"They not only invited me to join the club but also invited me to a party. The end of the war party." Howard said, "Rich bastards, know quite a lot of things, don't they?"
"Be careful, that's the only suggestion I can give." Roman said, "The third part is divided into two categories and both are personal and not related to business."
"Stop being formal and go ahead."
"Your brothers want to meet you. They said they got bored with the war and want to hunt the 'mutant' in London, so they are asking you to join the hunt." Roman said, "They have already arrived in London and are waiting for you, so you better hurry up before they do something stupid."
"For fuck sake..." Howard massaged his temples, "Can they not go a year without troubling me. What about the second part."
"The second part involves me." Roman said taking a deep breath, "I have a son."
"What? When? How?" Howard looked surprised as he stared at Roman from head to toe. Roman was your typical average guy, decently handsome, thick beard, and a bit on the short side. For the twenty years, they had known each other, he had never seen the guy with a woman, in fact, Howard had already determined the guy was asexual.
"Don't act as if I just announced myself as God." Roman said with an annoyed expression, "But seriously even I didn't know of his existence until 4 months ago. He's 3 years old and has been living with his mother."
"Are you sure it's yours?"
"The boy looks exactly like me. So unless the woman slept with my non-existent brother I am sure the child is mine." Roman said, "It was just supposed to be a random thing but I never expected things to go this way. We met again by accident four months ago and I found out about the child and now as a man, I feel like I need to take responsibility, so I've decided to marry and settle down this time."
"That's good." Howard nodded but looking at Roman's face he wasn't too happy with it. "Is there something else? If it's money trouble then you don't have to worry, your son is my responsibility. With all the orphanages I've been funding taking care of unknown kids, why wouldn't I look after someone my own. I'll promise you to give him the best life a human could live till he dies."
"No, it's not the money it's the kid...he's like the people you describe." Roman sighed, "He's like you."
"Immortal and handsome?"
"It's hard to explain because even I can't understand his powers." Roman said, "It was one of the reasons why my woman was hiding and moving cities, so I want your help."
"Where are they?"
"I am having them escorted to London using some of your guards." Roman said, "I figured you'll be going there anyway for your brothers."
"Don't worry, I'll see what I can do." Howard nodded, "But you should be proud, your child is special."
"I don't know... how did your parents deal with it?"
"Well since my mother had an affair I had two fathers. One-shot me in the head while the other was well killed by my brother. Granted, they didn't know about my powers yet." Howard said not even flinching, "As for my mother, she called us monsters and lead the entire village to hunt us down. They couldn't find us, so the villagers burnt her for being a crazy witch and for the crime of killing her family. James and Victor don't know about that, so make sure to keep it a secret."
Roman stood there with his mouth wide open, not able to say another word.
