Eli Mercer is an ordinary man trying to survive an unforgiving city. By day he’s invisible, by night he hauls crates along Gotham’s docks, keeping his head down and his questions to himself. Caught between rival gangs and bullets that should kill him, Eli learns that his strength, endurance, and resilience are far beyond human, yet strangely restrained—barely enough to stand out in a city of monsters and myths. Unaware of Gotham’s true nature or the legacy tied to his powers, Eli struggles to hold onto his humanity as something ancient stirs within him.

In a city watched by legends and haunted by the dead, an average man with the powers of Solomon Grundy begins to rise—not as a hero or a villain, but as something Gotham has never seen before.
