Capítulo 18: Human Betrayal!

"Jie Jie Jie, so it's true. There are goblins capable of human speech."

"I came here intending to hunt forest elves, to capture a few for the slave markets. I never expected to stumble upon such a treasure."

"A goblin that speaks human language is as rare and valuable as a Dark Elf. It'll fetch a high price," one of the human males chuckled, his eyes gleaming with greed.

"Yes, those wealthy princes will certainly fancy such a rarity, hehehe," another added.

Dick, just as he was about to depart with the women, found himself confronted by four human males, armed and smirking, emerging stealthily from the surrounding woods. Their conversation made it clear: they were slave traders, capturing various monster races to sell to the affluent.

The fate of their captives was grim, and Dick knew it well. He glanced back at the women he was escorting. To his dismay, their expressions ranged from hateful pride to guilty avoidance, revealing their complicity.

"Is this their gratitude for my absence?" Dick muttered to himself, his readiness to engage in battle intensifying. Any remnants of kindness towards the female captives evaporated.

"Haha, bad luck for you, Goblin. While you were away, we slave traders encountered the woman you tied up," one of the traders sneered. "They were quite cooperative, even promising to help capture you."

"And they even agreed to give us information about a Goblin lair. What a lucrative opportunity!" another trader said, his smile sinister.

Dick's gaze shifted to the female captives, who were now avoiding eye contact. Some glared at him with resentment, while others showed a hint of pride in their betrayal.

"Why are you betraying me? You could have left here if you had just waited a little longer," Dick asked, confusion evident in his tone.

"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have suffered like this, forced to bear goblin children!"

"I just wanted to see my mother again, I'm sorry... I thought if I cooperated, I'd see her sooner."

"Hmph, don't think you're doing us any favors. You're still a goblin, and you deserve to pay for what you've done to us!"

Each captive voiced their reasons, but Dick stopped listening. Ever since discovering that the black wolf clan could reproduce with goblins, he had prohibited the goblin clan from impregnating the human captives, keeping them under guarded confinement instead. His decision to rescue them from the lair was now met with betrayal and the divulgence of the lair's location.

Although Dick was confident they couldn't trace him, such information could attract a dreaded Goblin Slayer, jeopardizing the lair he had built.

Dick wasn't a saint, but he was unwilling to see his creation destroyed so easily. He knew he had to act swiftly to silence them.

As for dealing with the slave traders, Dick assessed them quietly. There were two of Level E and three of Level F, comprising warriors, shield bearers, archers, magicians, and scouts. He readied himself, preparing to confront the threat head-on, his mind racing with strategies.

Confronted with five skilled adventurers, Dick realized the gravity of his situation. As an ordinary F-level goblin, he lacked the confidence to defeat them and feared the possibility of his own demise.

In a moment of desperation, Dick invoked his magic. Numerous saplings erupted from the forest floor, rapidly growing into a towering two-meter-high wall of trees, encasing both him and the female captives.

The slave traders, taken aback by this sudden development, feared losing their quarry. They launched a fierce assault on the tree barrier, determined to prevent any escape and to capture the female captives for the slave market.

Their violent attacks shattered the fragile wooden wall. However, as they breached the barrier, a chilling sight greeted them. The six female captives were entwined in thick vines, suspended in the air, their necks grotesquely twisted. The grisly scene sent a wave of horror through the slave traders, realizing they had meddled with a goblin far beyond their reckoning.

Exchanging fearful glances, they swiftly retreated, their minds set on seeking the service of a Goblin Slayer.

...

[The Goblin Life Simulation has concluded, and the settlement is now underway.]

Rating: B+

Evaluation: Your performance was noteworthy. You simultaneously accomplished two tasks, albeit barely. Your construction of a goblin lair and the rehabilitation of the birth mother to a normal life were commendable feats. Though the end was marred by your failure to save the female captives, it's a minor blemish on an otherwise impressive record.

Reward: 80% attribute inheritance; skill plant growth; two additional simulation opportunities; one evolution template selection, 1000 evolution points.

Dick perused the system summary, feeling a sense of relief wash over him as he realized the lengthy simulation had come to an end. In the real world, only two days had passed, a stark contrast to the months he experienced in the simulation.

Now, he had completed his tasks, earned his rewards, and was poised to enhance his strength, especially vital given the looming crisis in reality.

Attribute inheritance: Approximately 800 evolution points were earned in the simulation; the level remains at F-. Skill proficiency has reached the upgrade threshold and will be distributed at an 80% rate.

As the system prompt appeared, Dick was presented with an array of rewards on the virtual display.

Inheritance rewards: 640 evolution points, skill vitality absorption, and upgrade opportunities.

[Ding! You have met the conditions for evolution. Do you wish to proceed?]

"No."

Dick decided to take his time to carefully consider and assimilate the rewards he received and explore potential strategies before hastily evolving.

The total rewards from this simulation included skill plant growth, two additional simulation opportunities, one evolution template selection, the ability to upgrade vitality absorption, and 1640 evolution points.

"Hiss!"

Dick couldn't contain his excitement. The gains from this simulation were beyond his expectations. He reviewed his current evolution points:

Level: F-

Evolution points: 350/800 (earned from creature hunting)

Plus approximately 1,600 evolution points, he could choose to evolve and select a template to advance to a mid-to-high-level goblin variety.

Additionally, the opportunity to upgrade the Vitality Drain skill added to his anticipation for the future.

Eager to explore these new possibilities, Dick began to scrutinize his options and prepare for the next phase of his journey.
