Capítulo 5: Chapter 5: The Hub Part 4

Sylvia tilted her head upon hearing Kel's answer. She then proceeded to ask, "What does that mean?"

Kel looked at her for a moment before shaking his head in disappointment. "Never mind. Just know to call me that. More importantly, can you tell me where the hell I am and what exactly I'm supposed to do?"

"Oh yes, sorry, forgive me, Don Kel," said Sylvia. Hearing Sylvia call him by that title, Kel couldn't help but smirk and nod in satisfaction. 'Finally, some respect around here.'

Sylvia gave a deep bow to Kel before beginning to explain, "This will be your domain. It is a gift from the mistress. You should be very grateful."

"Don't tell me what to do," Kel immediately snapped, causing Sylvia to lower her head in a deep bow.

"I'm very sorry," she said.

Kel thought to himself, 'Look at her, thinking she's got free speech. Does she think this is America?'

After keeping her head lowered for a few seconds, Sylvia raised it again and spoke more cautiously, now thinking that Kel was easily irritable. "This place will act as your domain, your home. The mistress had me look after it so that one day, should she get an apostle, he or she could live here as they carry out their duties and enjoy the gifts of the mistress."

"I see," Kel nodded, but inwardly he thought, 'Yea, this still isn't making any sense.'

Not wanting to linger on the point too long, he then asked, "What about the so-called duties? What exactly am I supposed to do? Tie you up and whip you until the mistress is pleased?"

Sylvia immediately looked fearful as she shook her head rapidly. "No, no, no. I mean, if the mistress demands it and Don Kel demands it, I cannot refuse."

"I see," Kel answered, feeling he had a better understanding of just how favorable a position he was now in, although it was under a largely unpredictable being. "Then what is?"

Sylvia raised her head before holding her staff with both hands, clutching it tightly. She tapped it on the tiled floor several times, and the entire area around them changed. It became a daunting pitch black, with numerous shadowy screens appearing, each showcasing different images as if they were a bunch of television sets.

Kel immediately looked around at all of them and couldn't help but show surprise when he recognized, and at the same time, didn't recognize what he was seeing.

Each screen showcased a fictional world Kel knew from his original world—some of them movies, anime, and even literature. But at the same time, in each of these screens, he noticed glaring differences from the fictions he thought he was familiar with.

"Is that Hitler in 'My Little Pony'?" Kel exclaimed, confused. "Rambo in 'Demon Slayer'? And what's that weird-looking guy doing in 'Teen Titans'? Okay, what the heck is Andrew Tate doing in 'Harry Potter'? Which fuckers wished for these?"

Sylvia appeared beside Kel and gave a subtle bow. As she did this, Kel couldn't help but ask, "Doesn't it hurt your back to bow that often? Those things must be heavy. And can you even see your toes when you look down?"

"I'm sorry, Don Kel," Sylvia replied, ashamed. Not expecting such a dramatic reaction from her, Kel felt a bit sadistic. Having come from a world filled with feminists, he had never seen a woman bow unless it was to someone absurdly rich or had been kidnapped, or both.

Even the act of hearing a woman say sorry was extremely rare unless one, of course, had money.

"You're forgiven," Kel answered back. "Carry on."

She proceeded to do so. "There are many beings like the mistress who find entertainment in watching the lives of mortals," Sylvia explained. "However, after some time, the beings got bored, and more and more beings began to kill off mortals from their worlds before giving them power and sending them off into the worlds of their wildest dreams."

Kel nodded as he continued to listen. 'So, it's a bunch of reincarnated and Isekai'd extreme fetishists?' he wondered.

He continued to keenly listen to Sylvia as she continued to explain. She walked through the pitch-black area and approached some screens to her left-hand side. She then tapped her staff, and what seemed like the void even changed as she said, "The reason for various people who were summoned as apostles, most having died unfair deaths in their world, is to give them a new chance to live wonderful, prosperous lives with little to no limits on what they could do."

'Sounds like the start of a fun fanfic,' Kel thought, although he kept nodding on the surface.

"However, many times, these same apostles often wreak havoc on the world. But it is entertaining to watch for many beings until they achieve their mundane goals and begin to live normal lives. At this time, most beings grow bored and leave, before choosing new apostles. And so, many such worlds came into existence. Even now, with each moment that passes, countless new apostles are born and sent to new worlds by various beings—some without limit, some with limit. Some are sent to purposely do good, while others to purposely do bad."

"I'm guessing I'm among the latter," Kel said, concerned that he likely had to provide better entertainment than already existing apostles. Even if the being he was now serving had only one apostle, he was pretty sure she wouldn't like having an apostle that wasn't as good as those of other beings.

Given how debaucherous some people could be, Kel had little to no confidence that he could match some of the perverts who likely got reincarnated into other worlds. And so, an idea came to mind.

Before he could act on it, Sylvia continued, "The mistress has chosen you to be her apostle so you can do the same."

"I have a better idea," Kel revealed. Seeing that Sylvia was done talking, Kel couldn't help but bring up a proposal.

Sylvia tilted her head. "An idea?"

"Yes," Kel replied. "Instead of sending me to some random world and having me do bad things for entertainment, why don't you send me to a world where another new apostle has been put? I'll ensure as few things as possible go his or her way, and that his dream for a perfect world doesn't come to fruition. There's nothing more evil than targeting another man's peace."
