One nearly took over the entire wizarding world and was only stopped by the strongest wizard in his prime The other barely took a country after hiding until the greatest wizard that was long past his prime died, and still managed to lose to a sub-par child due to a fluke of magic… twice… Volde may be more magically powerful, but he’d get destroyed by Gellert 10/10 due to the last of diversity and skill And that’s not even getting into the difference between the Alliance and the DEs

Cuz if we go with just the splitting of the soul with size being irrelevant, then the quantity of splits wouldn’t matter so long as you don’t exceed a certain percentage of your soul, like say herpo split 10% of his soul for one, you could split 1% 10 times and have more failsafes with the same sacrifice But if it’s a clean half, then naturally the sacrifice is too huge to do again for any sane mind Least that’s the way I imagine it 🤔

It’s very common in situations like that for others close to the person involved to blame themselves in some way. The usual “if only I did ‘X’” or “If I hadn’t done ‘Y’ this wouldn’t have happened” reasoning. Usually this guilt is completely unfounded, as there are countless things that could’ve led to said persons death at any given time, but it doesn’t stop people from taking that guilt onto themselves. You can see it most clearly in the families of suic*de victims. Even if there was nothing they could’ve done to change it, the families still feel guilty
