The Girl I Used To Be
We have all had our fair share of embarrassing moments. Part of being human is making mistakes, learning from them, and carrying on. Ultimately we use our failures to grow and develop - in most cases, we become better people as a result of them. But what if that didn't happen? I'm not the same person anymore. I have done terrible things. Witnessed inhumane acts of violence and suffering. Been through so many hardships. My old life was destroyed. It fell apart before my eyes as a chandelier in an earthquake. Though maybe it was for the better... Without these experiences I would have continued to live under a façade, pretending everything in my life is perfect. I would have continued to ignore the cracks in my perfect little world and turn my head from the disturbing truth that is reality.
