ตอน 37: RUNNING
I don't even know what time it was that we had finally stopped ravishing each other, or what time it was that I had finally fallen asleep with his arms wrapped around me. I know it was about a quarter to four in the morning right now and I had to get out of here.
I was glad that his arms were no longer holding me tight against his chest. I was glad that I was sober and had woken up first this time. I was glad that I had gotten to experience sex with this mind blowing feline without being inebriated.
Now though, I wanted to leave here and never see him again. I'm sure I got all of this out of my system last night. I'm sure my wolf was going to be satisfied with this now and would leave me alone. I needed to get as far away from him as I could, and that also meant not going home for a while after today. It's a good thing that I need to go out of town on a job.
Quietly I slid from the bed and snuck out to the hallway and over to the front door, where all of my clothes were currently laying, including the shredded remains of my shirt.
'Well, good thing I don't have far to go.' I told myself inside my head, not daring to speak out loud just in case it woke Kyle.
I slid into the panties and hooked my bra. My jeans went on next, but since I didn't have a shirt I just put my jacket over my semi bare chest. I left my feet bare, carrying the sock and the boots so that I didn't take longer than needed (putting on the socks) nor would I inadvertently make too much noise (clunking around in the boots).
Slowly, I opened the door that he hadn't even bothered to lock and pulled it shut behind me. I hurried to my own door, which was down the hall on the same side as Kyle's. I had to wonder how long he had been living here. The apartment was set up too much for him to have moved in over the last two days. So how long has he been my neighbor? Definitely not long or I would have noticed him and that scent sometime before this weekend.
Once I was in my apartment I went straight to my room so I could get a clean shirt and pack a bag. I was leaving for EZ's to get the file he had made me for the CP case and then I was out of here. I didn't want to let myself succumb to Mr. Sexy Beast's animal magnetism again.
I wasn't even in my apartment for five minutes before I was back out the door and on my way.

KYLE POV

She must not have known that I woke up the instant she slipped away from my side. She probably thought she could make a clean getaway like I had last time. Well, I had had alcohol on my side then. Jacy had been pretty drunk that night and was sleeping off an exciting night.
This time, however, neither of us had been drinking. We had come together this time simply because we desired each other. And my dear sweet, sexy, stubborn, amazing Jacy was the one who initiated.
OK, I may not know all that much about her yet. I wanted to though, but she seemed determined to run from me. She seemed intent on not letting herself be with me. What was it she was afraid of?
Was it because I was a feline and she was a wolf? Was it because she was an Alpha female and she could tell that I was an Alpha male? Did she think we would clash over who was in charge or something? Or was it something else?
She had said something about not having a mate and not wanting one. Did something happen in her past that made her fear the idea? I would have to look into her more to find out about it.
The problem was, there wasn't much information about her for me to find. I knew her name, I confirmed that part when I saw her mail sitting on the counter in her kitchen. I hadn't snooped, it was just sitting there. Though I do admit that I looked around the place and to get a feel of her style, which wasn't too far off from mine.
I had searched for her name in every database I could think of, but there was nothing. She had a license and the address was listed for the place right next to mine. The problem, though, was that the condo was registered to someone named Laurell Horne. The vehicle parked in her spot when I left for work on Saturday was an escalade that was also registered to Laurell Horne. And when I left Sunday morning, I noticed that there was a different vehicle in that spot that was also registered to Mrs. Horne.
I did a search on Laurell Horne and found that she was the housewife to a rich semi-retired business man that lived on a massive estate. She had raised four children, the youngest looked a lot like that person that Jacy had gone to the club with the other night.
Why were these people putting everything that was Jacy's in their name? Why were there no bank accounts that came up with Jacy's name? Or credit cards? There were almost no records of her at all.
That went beyond what I had done, hiding my details. She didn't seem to have any at all. Oh, and then there was the fact that just recently, someone tried to access my data. He or she must have been a pretty skilled hacker if they were able to do so without leaving even the slightest amount of evidence. Whoever they were, they would make a good addition to my company. After all, the best way to defend against a hacker is to use a hacker.
Still, I would need to find out what was going on with my mate. I had confirmed that she was indeed my mate when I was taking her last night. There was a mark right there on the back of her shoulder below her neck. It was a dark black mark, almost like a tattoo, and it looked like a pair of eyes surrounded by a chain of thorny ivy. The eyes didn't match though, there was a wolf eye and a feline eye. It represented the two of us.
I would need to go see her soon. I was quickly becoming addicted to her. Not to mention I didn't get to tell her the good news. We had gotten straight to 'business' last night so I hadn't had a chance to tell her. Then she snuck out first thing in the morning so I had missed my chance again.
But sooner rather than later I needed to tell her that we were going to have a baby together. I wonder if she would be happy about that?
