One would expect those pillars to kill or at least harm the people that were caught in them but that did not happen

Instead of killing people, the light gave the civilians around power that they originally don't have

Their eyes also became reverent as they stared at the Saintess. They were full of adoration for him as if they are willing to die for him

"Die! I will never forgive you!" The Saintess shouted, tears streaming down his eyes

His feelings for Lawrence were genuine, it was pure. Hence the reason why he did not receive any backlash after all the things that they did together

Since love is a pure emotion and the Saintess did all things he for love, not only did he not receive any backlash, he was even stronger than he was compared to the version of himself before the regression
