ตอน 108: The Trench

Time flew quicker than I thought and by the time I realised it, it was time to go. For someone who was initially scared shitless, I was almost reluctant to leave. As I headed back to the boat, I suddenly heard a sound that sent chills down my spine.
When I looked back and down, I saw something that might potentially haunt me for the rest of my life. From the depths, a head emerged. The unsettling part was it didn't have eyes. meaning it was probably from the deep since vision was not needed at such depths. But the sheer size of it sent intense shivers down my spine.
As if that wasn't enough, arms sprang out from either side of it extending towards me. As it moved upwards, I finally saw most of its body. It looked like a serpent, but it had a small round head and arms.
When I looked up, I was shocked to realise how far from the surface I had actually deviated. I realised why I felt so comfortable. It was due to this thing. It had been influencing me somehow.
[K-Kid, I suggest you run for your life,] Drak said quickly.
'No shit!' I said before moving upwards as fast as I could, but it felt like a dream. Like those dreams were no matter how fast you run it feels like you're not moving at all. And finally, I saw long bony fingers cover the sides of my vision. It had reached me.
'I knew I shouldn't have come, fuck the ocean. This place is a death trap. What are the chances of meeting this thing? Why is my luck so atrociously bad?
As it began to clench, I saw the fingers getting closer. I sighed.
'Fine… fine-fine-fine. I didn't want to have anything to do with you. We could have gone our separate ways, but you forced me you piece of shit monster!' I cursed before turning around. I grinned while looking at the monster's mouth that was slowly opening.
'Boy, who would have thought I would be battling a sea monster.' I said with a self-mocking smile.
BOOOOOOOOM
Suddenly a massive, muffled explosion happened just as the monster was about to touch Tom. Intense heat exploded outwards as it made contact with the water. Like an underwater volcano. Within the epicentre, a Knight could be seen in black armour covered with black flames that weren't being put out by the water. It was like they didn't obey the laws of this world.
'I'm going to make sushi out of you' said Tom as he extended his arm forward.
"Gehennam Ignis!" he yelled. A massive jet of black fire exploded out from his hand in a sphere that expanded in all directions. It touched the hands of the monster, instantly searing the flesh to the bones before that too disappeared. The monster which was about to eat Tom halted and screamed out in immense pain before receding into the depths and astonishing speed.
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING! You think you can come and go as you please?" he yelled and attempted to descend.
[Stop! You have 30 seconds before you faint. Your body can't go on for much longer. Take this time to leave before it comes back. That monster is called 'the trench'. That little damage won't stop it for long. It has immense regeneration. Something we can later devour when we have the chance. When you're much-much stronger. It will provide strong survivability.] he advised.
"Tch, fine, I'll be back for you!" he said viciously.
"ascendio!" he yelled as he waved his arm upwards. His body ascended at fast speed. His armour was stripped and receded into the tattoos like it was all an illusion. Just when he was about to break the water's surface, he noticed his broken suit.
"integram reparatione" he said with a muffled voice while under water. His once broken suit mended itself, even growing new parts to replace the old ones.
Splash!
When I finally broke through the surface of the water my suit was mended completely. Much to my pleasure. I also realised that people were starting to look for me since I hadn't returned yet. But my encounter was short, so they didn't panic enough yet and everything went fine as we made our way back to shore.
'Fuck, this is why you never go to the ocean. My fear is not without basis. I will, without fail, avoid the ocean for as long as I live. Except to kill that thing, since it can be of use, I'll be back for it. But until then, no water for me. No sir.' I though while shaking my head. But I soon heard Luke's voice off to the side.
"Tom, where did you go, we were beginning to get worried. We couldn't find you anywhere." He said with concern.
"It seems the current took me further away then I realised. Luckily, I noticed soon enough. Everything is fine, don't worry about it," I said with a smile.
Luke and Diana relaxed slightly and nodded before drying themselves off. It took about an hour to get back to shore and as soon as we jumped of, I rushed to the dry sand and laid there facing the sky.
"Thank god. Dry land. I love you land." I said with joy. I would have kissed the ground if I didn't want to eat a mouthful of sand in the process. It was an exhausting day and one I would not repeat. One ocean experience was more than enough for me. As we headed back on the minibus, I fell asleep. After all, using the armour did drain me of my stamina quickly.
