For I hath fallen to the deepest depths from which I can never escape.
A distraction that is akin to my worst enemy. All it takes is a twitch of Mr. Hand for things to go south.

I just happen to be one of them.

A high-pitched voice brought me out of my thoughts.
It was feminine. Its tone was filled with a mix of confusion, curiosity, and what can only be anticipation.
Her eyes sparkled.
Like a lost lamb, the little green girl in front of me gazed this way with the slightest bit of hope.
'Twas a scene akin to meeting someone famous.
"I don't mean to disturb you, but could you hear me out for a moment?"
"...Why…..?"
She tilted her head expressionlessly.
This goblin maiden here was one I had decided to approach after waking up.
And an absolute maiden she was, I dare say—Fuck...…!
No matter how hard I try, this blue blooded speech pattern doesn't suit me. Feels like a steel rod is jammed firmly in my ass right now.
Guess I should just downgrade to young master.

"It's going to become difficult for us, is it not? I don't too much like difficulties. Put simply, if us newborns don't help each other out, we'll likely die off one by one. That's not a very pleasant future. It's actually quite dark, honestly."
"…..I think you're right….. We aren't that strong. But you are, though, Ezra..."
"…So you've heard of me."
"It can't be helped….. Gobumi wouldn't stop talking about you. And….that prey you brought back….everyone saw it…."
"Hm~ So that's how it is. But what about you?"
"Huh…..?"
"You saw the Horn Rabbit I killed. Now that the older goblins aren't feeding us anymore, we'll all have to go out and search for food. Those who aren't prepared will face danger. Since it's come to this, I thought that gathering a few pawns would be mutually beneficial."

"Pawns…..? Mu-mutually…..?"
"Yea…just look over there, at the male goblins. They might be weak, but they're still useful. That's what you call a pawn."
"....I see, I understand…"
"It's sad, really. Don't they look pitiful?"
"Pitiful…? Maybe…? I don't know…."
"They can hardly think for themselves. If goblins like us don't guide them properly, those dumb fucks will run around like headless chickens."

"…I think I get it now.... You want us to help each other. If….if I can have food like the prey you caught, I will come with you... You're strong, so we can catch more…."
"Correct~ I knew you'd understand. As I'm still ignorant of it, do you mind telling me your name, smart child?"
At my compliment, her lips curved into a wide smile.
Not a bad look, if I do say so myself.
"….I'm Fu…Gobufu…"
"Ohhhh, nice to meet you, Fuuka."
"Ah, no…well…okay."
"Mmm~ Let's do our best, Fuuka. We have a lot of prey to catch. But for now, let us go meet our new comrades."
I quickly grabbed her wrist and led her toward another female goblin. Though surprised at the sudden contact, she gave no resistance, limply following along behind me.
A little while earlier, the older goblin that usually rationed out 'food' had told us to go search for our own food as I'd expected. This led to my brethren foolishly wandering out of the cave in search of something to eat.
That being said, I'd already decided to build my own forces outside of my cute shadows. With the display of strength I showed the previous day, it wasn't difficult to convince my targets.
Make no mistake, Dear Macbeth, humans were not the only creatures who took action to benefit themselves.
My side had obvious advantages. Only fools, crackheads, and emo's would deny this lovin'.
Those who dared to refuse could French kiss both of my testicles.
That's how it is and that's how it shall be.
And so, there I was, surrounded by eight female goblins who could only be distinguished by their hairstyle or color.
A girl with short, silvery gray hair and a brown bandanna—Gobue, or as I like to call her 'Eri'.
A girl with near shoulder length black hair and trimmed, blunt bangs—Fuuka.
A girl with very short black hair and no other outstanding features—Kanami.
Another girl with short black hair, except her bangs were parted in a way that showed her forehead—Gobume, otherwise known as 'Mei'.
A girl with pale, baby blue hair—Goburin. A brown haired girl—Goburu, or 'Haru'. A girl with short silver hair—Gobusui. And lastly, a girl with forest-green hair—Goburai.
I split them up into groups of three, with me, Fuuka, and Rin each taking leadership of a team.
Kanami and Eri came along with me, while Mei and Rai were assigned under Fuuka.
It was simpler to have a chain of command since we'd be splitting up more often than not after I nurtured them a bit.
Although Kanami-tan wasn't too happy with how things progressed between the group of girls, she was satisfied with at least joining my squad.
A few were initially hesitant to go out, but had still decided to join since catching good prey seemed more likely under my leadership.
I also sent my two shadow soldiers out to hunt for me. A goblin and a Horn Rabbit, what a strange combination.
It still worked though. They ended up becoming my passive experience grinders. Together, the two were enough to kill Horn Rabbits and other weird creatures called 'Armored Tanuki's.'
It was apparently some kind of mix between an armadillo and a raccoon dog, with a hard shell on its back.
Regardless, being able to level up without doing a damn thing felt like heaven on earth. All I had to do next was go around to each dead carcass and turn them into shadows. By then, we'd have a good system on our hands.
"We're all ready to set off now, no? Come, I'll lead at the front. All you have to do is guard the people on your team. If you do that, you will never have to worry about what's going to sneak up on you."
I looked around at each of their faces.
"Your number one priority shouldn't be about what to kill next. It's making sure everyone on your team is safe. As long as none of you dies, we'll have another chance to try again. Do you understand what I just said?"
Sui, Haru, and Mei seemed the most anxious out of the group, but they all nodded solemnly.
I couldn't help but smile. This is how people should be. Obedient.
"Alright. I'm trusting you, so do your best to protect everyone...…. Let's go…."
I walked forward through the path they opened up for me, heading for the caves entrance.
As I had instructed previously, they followed behind in a team formation.
Three on the right, three on the left, and two close at the rear.
They're still a bit clumsy when it comes to coordination, but we'll fix that soon enough.
For now though, let's hunt until our bellies are full.
