Madeline was full ear as she genuinely wanted to know more about Lance's family. After all, Lance was unnecessarily hiding too many things from her, which made her feel lost, just like when she bumped into Katherine and Chloe. 

Lance took a deep breath and said, "My father and uncle were jerks in their 20s. They were like me, but perhaps even worse, or at least that's what my mother used to tell me back then."

"But even a jerk like them has a heart, and once they met with their future wives, they went through many trials and tribulations just to get married."
