Remembering is not something I always do well. (Except, you know, random facts that stick in my brain like how the darker the honey the stronger the taste and rice doesn't actually need that much water to grow it's just that most plants can't survive in that much water and therefore cuts down on weeding and the like.) But the base of the word has always seemed a bit odd to me. You would think it would have something to do with memories because that's kind of what remembering is, but the word is remembering and not rememoring, which I feel would make more sense, but they didn't ask me when they were making words, so there's that.
Because it's a weird word I try to make sense of it in my own special little weird way. (Or maybe it's not special and that's the way it was originally thought out. I wouldn't know, I haven't checked, soooo, I'm just going to continue assuming it's my special way and continue on.) But my weird way of thinking about it, is as the opposite of dismembering, but instead of reattaching arms and legs, you're reattaching memories and knowledge and the like, that used to be a part of you. So then it's one of your "members" again.
...yeah, it's probably just me.
