Chương 60: #60 The Mall 1
On Sunday afternoon, Yuichi went to the shopping mall to meet up with Mei and Sakura. He was currently wearing gray jeans with a gray shirt over his white T-shirt. Yuichi never really cared for fashion which was one of the many things that slightly irritated Mei.
When he arrived at the place of the meeting he couldn't help but wear a confused expression.
"What is going on here?" Yuichi wanted to apologize for being the last to arrive but he couldn't help but ask when he saw Kushida sitting at the table where Sakura and Mei were sitting.
"Ah, Iwamura-kun! I was just walking around and noticed Mii-chan and Sakura-san so I asked what they are up to." Kushida quickly explained while eyeing Yuichi's choice of clothing from top to bottom.
"Hi!" Mei waved at Yuichi with a cheeky smile.
"Good afternoon, Iwamura-kun" Sakura greeted with a low voice.
"Eh, hello...Kushida-san? May I ask you if you are planning to go with us?" Yuichi greeted back awkwardly before asking with a confused expression.
"Only if you don't mind!" She replied with a pleading expression as if she wanted to join.
"Or is it a problem?" She asked when she noticed Yuichi's uneasiness.
"...Not at all, it's just that...I might feel a bit weird within this group of 3 girls..." Yuichi glanced at Sakura who understood his brief glance and let him know that she doesn't mind it that much before replying.
Kushida was a bit taken back by his response before she assured him that there is no need to feel so.
"Yuichi-kun, do you have to wear such gloomy-looking clothes? Even your hair is black, no need to add more gloomy colors" Mei teased with a smile while carefully checking out his clothes.
"I don't think that those colors are gloomy. I mean, yeah, black is usually worn at funerals but that doesn't mean that color is dead. Still, I understand your worries, that's why I decided on gray. And don't try to tell me that gray is gloomy too, it's just a color, let it exist in peace." Yuichi replied while looking down at his clothes.
"Really? I don't think it looks that bad." Kushida said towards Mei, agreeing with Yuichi.
"What do you think, Sakura-san?" Kushida asked Sakura with a smile, trying to include her into this trivial conversation.
"Eh? Well, I think it looks good, I would be more concerned about the heat instead of the type of color" Sakura was a bit startled by her question but she still managed to reply fairly quickly.
"Sakura-san is right, it's damn hot out here. I actually spent so much time inside the buildings that I didn't even become aware that there was no drastic heat inside just because air conditioning is installed almost in every building." Yuichi muttered while looking up, shielding his eyes with his hand from the sunrays.
"That's because you spend all your time at school or at the gym" Mei replied while rolling her eyes.
"Hey, I need to stay healthy and fit" Yuichi rebuked her with a playful smile.
"Sure, sure...I am surprised you aren't more muscled than Sudo-kun with how many years you are saying that you need to stay 'healthy and fit'" Mei replied with a grin.
"Muscles' appearance isn't everything plus I am not lifting extremely heavy weights. Well, it's not like I can't, but I prefer stamina over strength." Yuichi has gotten overly passionate when Mei touched a sore spot.
"Hehe" Kushida giggled and even Sakura faintly smiled while listening to them.
"Huh?" Both looked at Kushida with a confused expression as if to ask her what's funny.
"You two are really childhood friends, it's easy to notice" Kushida explained while covering her mouth with her eyes still closed.
"I wouldn't say so" Both of them replied at the same time which prompted them to frown down before glancing at each other as if to say, "I said it first". This caused another round of laugher from Kushida and this time, even Sakura giggled a bit while covering her mouth.
When Mei and Yuichi heard Sakura giggle, both looked at each other with a similar glint in their eyes as if their plan just succeeded.
The group went towards the electronics store at the mall and when they walked in, they immediately searched for the repairs counter while Yuichi took this chance to have a few glances around the store. Mostly checking the prices.
When they finally spotted the repairs counter and Sakura wanted to go there, she stopped for a while and her body shook a few times before Kushida asked if she is alright which most likely woke her up from her thoughts. Sakura just nodded her head and approached the counter with the trio right behind her.
Kushida was the first one to start the conversation with the store clerk since she was aware that Sakura is not comfortable talking to strangers.
'The fuck is he talking about?' Yuichi actually felt a bit bored, just standing next to Sakura as if he was her bodyguard, that is until the clerk started talking about completely irrelevant things, most likely trying to hit on Kushida.
'Hm?' Yuichi looked more carefully on the counter and noticed a camera that was actually turned on, being pointed right in front of the counter. This prompted Yuichi to frown a bit, thinking that this guy is recording them without their permission. There was absolutely no reason for him to record them when there are security cameras for such things.
Yuichi noticed that the lens was aiming at Sakura so he put his hands on the counter, making it look like he is just resting by leaning against it while also obstructing the camera's view on Sakura.
The store clerk noticed it and glanced at Yuichi's hand before looking at his face and all he saw, Yuichi's confused expression as if to ask why he is looking at him when there is a beautiful girl right in front of him talking to him.
The store clerk quickly recovered before resuming his conversation with Kushida as if they were longtime friends, he even went as far as to ask her if she is interested in some idol concert, inconspicuously inviting her on a date.
'Kushida...I get that you want to be all polite and friendly with everyone you meet but can't you tell him that you are here to repair the camera and not to find yourself a boyfriend? Wait- Did he just mention some idols?' Yuichi started talking to himself inwardly with a bit bored expression before he noticed something strange. Yuichi previously already noticed his creepy glances at Sakura but he just thought of the clerk as a regular horny man since Sakura's rack was really huge and even Yuichi admitted that "Shizuku" was model material, however, now that he combined all those creepy and strange things, he felt as if this clerk in front of him is stalker instead of just regular pervert. Of course, since Yuichi had nothing to prove, he just ignored it and hoped that this suffering will end soon.
Even Mei seemed to be dying of the boredom with the clerk constantly chatting up with Kushida.
'I think taking her with us was one of the biggest mistakes' Yuichi thought but fortunately for him, even Kushida was already trying her best to evade the clerk's invitations.
Kushida urged Sakura to finally give the clerk her camera together with the warranty card. The store clerk confirmed the warranty period and demanded from Sakura to fill the form with her contact information while looking at her with really unsettling eyes.
'Once you have someone's contact information, you can almost track their exact location...' Yuichi saw from this creepy guy's eyes that he had an ulterior motive for demanding her contact information. At this point, Yuichi was convinced to check "Shizuku's" blog once more in the evening for the new comments.
"Actually, Sakura-san, I wanted to buy one camera myself but I am not sure which one so can I borrow yours when its repaired for a few hours? I would like to try it out." Yuichi interrupted Sakura from writing anything down into that form.
"Oh? Really?! I-I definitely don't mind if that's what you want" She replied with a bit excited expression as if she just found herself a buddy for her hobby.
"Thanks, then I guess you wouldn't mind me filling the form, right? I will come for your camera once its repaired and while I will go back to the dorms to return it to you, I will try to take a few photos. How about it?" Yuichi suggested and Sakura thought about it for a few seconds before nodding her head and handing the pen to him.
"W-wait a minute. Isn't she the owner?" The store clerk tried to deny this which made Yuichi's eyes turn a bit cold.
'He is really pushing it, I pity Sakura...and any other girl that was bothered by this creep'
"I don't think there is any legal problem. The store shouldn't stick their nose into the private matters of their customers. Even if I were to come here and I wasn't legitimate "owner", as long as I have a warranty card, the store is obligated to repair it for me, isn't that so? After all, if Sakura-san weren't present, you wouldn't have any idea who is the owner, from the warranty card, you can only know who is the purchaser which doesn't mean a thing because this camera could have been bought as a gift for someone." Yuichi said a bit coldly.
"?!...y-yes. I apologize." When he noticed Yuichi's cold green eyes, he was a bit startled so he stopped pushing the matter altogether and just accepted it with a disappointed expression.
