Chương 24: Your choice + Infos
Hello everyone, I have recently been offered a webnovel contract, the problem is that my story is on the edge of fanfiction and will thus not be an original anymore if I introduce characters like Aloy or zero two into the story.
So here's the dilemma, become a fanfic and continue with the planned story but I won't get paid.
OR
Use only original characters in my story but I will have to change the story slightly and get rid of franchise characters I have planned for the future.
Please note that I will continue writing regardless of what decision you help me take.
While the money I would get by becoming a contracted author would help me pay for my studies I can live without it (getting even a penny for doing my hobby is rewarding enough).
I am also taking the chance to drop of a character ability resume since it some of you have requested one.
Matthew Ward (Matt)
Mutation : Dream reaper (Giant squid, cuttlefish, jellyfish and snake)
He and his mutation mainly focus on stealth, agility and intelligence. If it wasn't clear until now I'll make sure to make it more noticeable in the foreseeable future.
He likes to use either a spear or two one handed weapons. He has decent skill with other weapons but doesn't like the feel, especially long ranged ones, tried multiple time to make a gun but blew up multiple times.
He prefers to stalk, ambush and assassinate his target if he can but is ready to blow up or incapacitate his enemies if they are too many.
Skills : There are three types of skills :
First there is the informatic/electronic skills that are directly connected to his focus/nanites hybrid (active skills like scan, data control...).
Second, are mutation abilities that his nanites can control (active skills like heat vision, cold blooded... ).
Third and last are his direct mutations that caused physical alterations (passive skills like silent steps and amphibian constitution), do note that these are currently minor changes like slightly more flexible tendons, a change of his center of gravity and a better tissue regeneration.
Now here are Matts skills :
User menu / status : Show user information
Scan : Detect surrounding informatic devices and machines. Can also reveal precise information if the target has been recorded.
Mutation scan : Your scan can now recognize a target's mutation and its danger level. <NEW>
Track : Target a nearby entity and display its location.
Minor data control : Aggressively retrieve data from blocked devices. Has great computational capabilities.
Holographic projection : Display a small hologram of your choice near you.
Cold blooded : Reduce your body's metabolism to reduce consumption at the cost of efficiency.
Heat vision : Detects infrared light and converts the radiation into an image.
Silent movement : Reduces noise produced while walking and running. Increases overall stealth and movement speed.
Poison touch : Inflict minor paralysis upon organic beings that come into physical contact with your skin. Can be deactivated.
Phosphorescence : Release chemicals in your body that will shine in the dark
Transmutation : Release all or parts of your mutations locked inside your nukleus to transform your body or a part of it into a Jaeger.
Amphibian constitution : Boost self healing capabilities by coming in contact with water.
Reduces cells' need for oxygen to function and optimizes its consumption.
Other biologic abilities that are not connected to the system have been detected, please discover these on your own.
What this means is basically mutations that remained dormant, that are active but need to be used "manually" before being connected to the nanites/system or electronic abilities that are in his systems register but aren't downloaded yet.
He also has the fast travel skill and don't worry it will make its appearance in the next chapter / or the one after. Everything will be explained then.
BONUS
Astrid Bergesen (Astrid) :
Mutation : Fenrir (Wolf, wolverine, snow leopard)
She and her mutations mainly focus on strength, resistance and agility.
She likes to uses axe or mace type weapons, strangely her aim with weapons other than hatchets is terrible. Her fighting style relies on chasing, frontal battles and decisive power.
There are never too many opponents as her battle instinct can overcome the biggest and baddest threats.
