He regarded his right prime minister. "Setting aside the matter of the secret passages…Beloved Subject Ren. What do you have to say about Beloved Subject Yuan's accusations?" He used the term of address so perfunctorily but the irony was not lost on him.

Queeniecat (1) The wolves act together: a more accurate translation of the idiom would wolves and ‘bei’ (a mythical wolf-like beast) are in cahoots with each other, meaning villains collude.
(2) For ten thousand times, it must not be: a very difficult phrase to translate HAHAHAH it is ‘wan wan bu ke’ in Chinese, and I think the closest I can get to it and still have it not sound ridiculous would be ‘it cannot be ten thousand upon ten thousand times’. Used to emphasise extreme disagreement.
(3) Heartfelt advice may offend the ear: an idiom that is pretty self-explanatory. Kind of like a ‘truth hurts’ sort of thing.
(4) Lack of forbearance in little matters: Confucian saying that means to tolerate the small slights in favour of the bigger picture.
(5) Dragon energy: a concept that the emperor was an incarnation of a real dragon and that his spiritual energy would be enough to keep demons etc at bay.
(6) Edict conferring the title of empress: This is based (very loosely) on the Tang Emperor Tang Yuanzong’s conferral of the title of empress upon Wu Zetian. I fell far short of the beauty and solemnity of the original because a) I do not have the language skills needed for a good translation and b) I added some stuff and took out some stuff according to relevance. ^^;; I tried my best sorry, this took way longer than it should have.
