Chương 164: Chapter 163: Hostage

5 minutes before Natasha arrived.
Doreen was taken by Domingo to a safe place when he heard the keyword he and Kai had agreed with before about the sauce. He locked down his restaurant and evacuated all of the customers from there.
Ophelia was handing Kai his order and prepared to go back down. She walked a few steps away from Kai's table and suddenly froze.
"So. You found out who I am." Ophelia said calmly after she realized that the restaurant was becoming quieter and quieter over time. "How did you do it exactly?" Ophelia asked while turning her face toward Kai.
"Is that really the question you want to ask?" Kai said while standing up and moving toward her.
"Yes actually. But I doubt that you will answer me." Ophelia said while smiling softly.
She was still calm when facing the obvious threat, as she still had some cards to play. Her behavior alarmed Kai, making him change his plan to knock her out instantly to find out what she really wanted.
"Why are you here Madame Hydra? Or should I say... Viper? " Kai asked coldly while he was a meter away from her.
"Hydra… is destroyed. My other organization… Is also destroyed by the Third Eye organizations…I have nowhere to go-"
"Don't lie. No one will buy your sob story."
Seeing the decisive look on Kai's face Madame realized that he wasn't believing anything she said.
Hydra may have been destroyed on the surface, but she could meet with Baron Strucker anytime if she so desired it. But she didn't. Kai scanned the surrounding area instantly to search for the woman's scheme.
"I'm here… to seek asylum." Viper said unexpectedly. A trace of fear in her voice, and it wasn't just a normal or deceiving spook, it was primal.
"And what makes you think I'll grant you that?" Kai said while raising his brow.
"Because. You're a kind man." Viper gently placed her hand on Kai's cheek. She felt that if there is anyone in this world that could help her, it's him.
"You know I won't do it. So cut the crap and tell me the truth." Kai smacked her hand off and said coldly.
Viper smiled softly and picked his hand from his side. Then, she gently placed it on her left chest. The exact location will be in her heart.
"Can you sense it?" Viper said. "The irregular beating on this heart of mine?"
To others, it'll seem like a confession. But to a doctor like Kai, he knew that there was something wrong with her heart.
"This is a trigger. For the bombs that my subordinates had placed all over the city."
Her heart muscles was connected with various wires to connect with the bomb. She had undergone a surgery to install the bomb in her chest, while maintaining her consciousness to prevent the enemy from killing her.
Kai became solemn and released his hand. Dawn teleported nearby the restaurant and started to scan her from afar. However, his magic was blocked by a terrifying dark magic defense.
She sensed that someone was scanning her, and she quickly pulled herself in Kai's arm as she became fearful that the third eye organization would come and kill her now.
"If I'm agitated, or my heart rate slows down. Then the explosion will go off." She said with her voice shaking. "So protect me. And you'll protect the people in New York." She gripped his clothes tightly.
She had been hearing voices deep inside of her. Telling her to go to the peninsular and summon the Orochi into the world. However, her instinct told her that she would die the moment she stepped foot on Japan and summoned the snake.
"Why me?" Kai asked in helplessness. Dawn told him that she didn't know the location of the bombs that was installed.
She commanded a Serpent-men to do it, in which they were killed before they could give her the locations. All that really matter for her was, the bomb was armed.
"Because you're the only person in this world I can trust." Viper replied. It's the rare truth for her.
She thought that Kai could protect her, and won't go back on his word if he decided to do so of his own free will.
However, time was lacking for her to get closer to him naturally. That's why she showed some holes in her disguise, making him realize who she was instantly.
Ryan's luck was still ambiguous even though he had been living in this universe for all this time. He found Set's child. However, he couldn't do anything to her now. If he kills her, then Set will descend in full force on this world as he could use her to bypass the realm's defense.
That was also the reason why Set asked her to visit Japan. If she sacrifices herself, then he could descend instantly and start his hunt for Ryan. Killing off all the humanity will be just a bonus for him now.
Viper was never Set's true child. But was raised as a sacrificial lamb. And she will be protected by him, until the time comes. However the plan was all but broken by Ryan's sudden attack on the Serpent Society.
Although Ryan felt that his luck was ambiguous, he felt a tiny bit of pity for the Viper. The one she trusted to protect her as her last resort, was the one hunting her in the first place.
The Third eye organization was just Ryan with his third eye opened during the time he fought the Serpent and hunted the Serpent Society's members.
"After you give me your word. I will shut down the trigger for bomb and go into whatever prison you tell me to go." Viper added as she released Kai from the hug as that organization's presence was no longer felt by her.
Dawn had already left after confirming her identity, making her feel that her decision to have Kai as her protector was the right one. She felt that her life was over the moment Dawn had scanned her before this.
For her, Kai's presence had scared off whoever it was that had been hunting her.
'Pitiful.' Kai thought sarcastically. He has no pity for the woman in front of him. But he couldn't attack her without endangering all of New York City.
Ryan was scanning the whole city for the bomb after he learned the situation. 'As expected, New York is always the main target for the villains.'
He located 100 of the bombs in a few minutes, making him realize that she had placed thousands of bombs all over the city.
After he was able to locate every bomb in the near future, he will realize that she didn't place any bomb in a crowded place, orphanage, hospitals, old people's homes, or any vulnerable places.
The bomb she placed will cause a maximum property damage, but that strategy will reduce the life lost alot by the impact. She did this to make sure Kai didn't hate her choice.
Although it was a manipulation of the highest order, she picked the wrong target to do so. The moment she entered his life with a wrong intention, that was when he decided to eliminate her.
"You'll follow me to the SHIELD's prison. I'll make sure you have the protection you so much desire, but never even try to enter my life again." He warned her, causing shivers all over her body.
Her heart started beating quickly after seeing his cold temperament, but she breathed quickly to calm her heartbeats down. She couldn't explode half of the New York just because she was turned on, right?
"Don't be mad at me. I only did this because I had no other choice." Viper tried to make excuses while showing a sad expression. Then, she grabbed his hand again and brought it to her chest.
"You can have all of me If you want to. All you need to do is…protect me." Viper said and suddenly kissed him.
That was the scene that Natasha saw when she walked in.
After thinking for a few days, Natasha finally decided to go and talk to Kai. She was halfway to the restaurant when she got the message about the dangerous situation – prompting her to press her motorcycle throttle to the max and race through the New York streets.
She felt that she could understand what he did, but keeping the widows a secret from her was extremely hurtful for her.
She had been searching for them for a very long time. And to suddenly have a home waiting, was extremely confusing for her. However, she also realized that Kai was protecting her – From the Hydra's within SHIELD.
Yelena told her before, that he didn't make a move on anyone on the island, even though they were basically throwing themselves at him. She holds a special place in his heart, as he does in hers.
Anger boiled up inside of her when she saw that Kai was kissing another woman. But she kept her poker face and approached the duo while putting her guard up.
"Kai. I got your message. What's going on?"
Kai sighed and told Natasha the truth, surprising the Madame.
"She had a bomb in her heart and is holding the New York City hostage. She wanted asylum in exchange for the safety of the people here."
"You-" Ophelia was stunned when she heard what he said. Him not going with the dialogue has already destroyed a lot of her plans to seduce him. It was supposed to be only him, her protector, fighting against the world to save NY, at the same time falling in love with her.
Her plan all went to the drain now. However, he kept his word to protect her. And that's enough for now.
"You're… Viper!" Natasha widened her eyes in surprise after she saw through her disguise.
'A head of Hydra wants an asylum from the Avengers? What is she planning?' Natasha thought to herself. She then pieced it all together after Kai explained to her what Ophelia had asked for.
'A new enemy? Or a ruthless ally? I should see what Oracle knows about them.' Natasha thought carefully and made some plans. She also sent the information to Tony and Steve, and they are searching for the bombs now.
A team of SHIELD agents came to the restaurant and brought Ophelia in. She was handcuffed and escorted by a team of agents in an exoskeleton armor, seemingly devoid of feelings – Ryan's invention, the LMD is now online. (Life Model Decoy)
"I'll be waiting for you." She said lovingly while smiling at Kai. "Come quickly."
"Yeah-yeah. I'll go to prison after this." Kai dismissed her. It seemed that his vacations had to be cut short. It was extremely unfair for Doreen to be missing her father. Kai will send her to live on the island for a few days until the situation is settled.
"Crazy bitch." Natasha mumbled underneath her breath as she stared at Ophelia.
"What did you say?" Kai asked the woman standing beside him.
"Nothing."
"Are you still mad at me?" Kai turned fully toward Natasha as the car drove away.
"Yes." she answered curtly and prepared to go back to the Avengers tower.
"Hmm, then tell me. What can I do to make things right?" Kai held her hand as she tried to walk away and asked her. She wasn't answering, so he forced her to turn back facing him by spinning her.
Then, he kissed her right in the middle of the streets, while being watched by the SHIELD's agents.
Natasha widened her eyes by Kai's public display of affection. It caused the people around them to feel uncomfortable and avoided looking at them.
"What are you doing?" Natasha asked in a calm tone after he pulled his head back. She desperately tried to hold her lip from raising upward and giving him the satisfaction.
"Well, you looked mad before when Ophelia kissed me. Don't worry though. I'm still yours even if you're mad at me." Kai said playfully while smirking.
He knew that Natasha wouldn't come by if she didn't forgive him.
"I have a few hours before I need to be at the prison. Why don't we take a walk?" Kai asked Natasha for a date.
"I-" She wanted to get back to the Avenger tower and search for the bombs, but Kai dragged her hand and forced her on a date.
" I still have to pick up Doreen though if you don't mind, she is obviously coming with us." Kai said.
They went to get some dessert together . Kai shared an ice-cream bowl with Doreen while Natasha kept her from getting messy.
In the diner.
"I've never seen your motherly side before." Kai said while having a spoonful of ice-cream.
"Shut it. I'm not motherly at all. " Natasha said, surprised by the sudden statement. She had just wiped Doreen's face from the ice-cream as she was a messy eater and wanted to sit next to her.
"You know, you're dating a single father right? This type of action really does add to your attractiveness." Kai teased.
"Yup. Very attractive." Doreen interjected while nodding, causing Natasha to become embarrassed.
"Did you guys plan ahead for this?" Natasha said with a smile.
"Maybe. Maybe not." Doreen mimicked Kai when she said it, making Natasha certain that he had planned this ahead of time.
"Hey Doreen, that's my dialogue." Kai said. Natasha let out a rare chuckle and they had a great time together before they moved on their separate ways.
Natasha drove her bike back to the tower, while Kai summoned his wings and flew away with Doreen in his arms. By the time he finished sending Doreen to the island and arrived at the Vault prison, Ophelia had just arrived there.
"You're here. So now I can rest easy." Ophelia said from inside the prison cell. After staying awake for two long weeks, she gave up on her fatigue and finally went to sleep.

The same night when Ophelia was thrown into a prison. While wearing glasses, Ryan was standing at a swamp where he first met the Man-thing.
A few minutes later, the swamp monster crawled from the swamp water and walked slowly toward him.
"I was finally able to find the child of Set. Can I destroy the crown now?" Ryan asked in a childish tone.
Unfortunately for him, the Man-thing shook his head.
"I couldn't kill her. I couldn't destroy the crown either. What should I even do now exactly?" Ryan muttered in a dissatisfied tone. Then, the Man-thing tried to show him something. The moment they touched each other, Ryan saw a vision about a sexy blond woman in silk thin clothing that was being locked up in an illusionary cage with chains on her body.
"That's…Gaia? You want me to find HER?" Ryan was flabbergasted after understanding his impossible mission. Something that even the Gods weren't able to do in hundreds of years.
Only if Gaia was back on Earth, he could destroy Set's influence and prevent his descent. Right now, only the Vishanti created by the Mystical God Osthur were protecting the Earth from external threats.
Ryan may be strong right now, but he wasn't at the level where he could face an elder demon god.
"Any leads?" Ryan asked while being in deep thoughts.
The Man-thing shook his head and slowly moved back inside the swamp, leaving Ryan alone there.
"Damn. So I need to keep her alive? Kai will be mad!" Ryan muttered before he teleported back to his house in New York.

In the hidden Island Paradiso.
Dawn was at the spaceship hangar, and was checking the progress of the new ship.
"It's big!" Park Shin looked at the 300 meter long ship with her eyes glittering. The ship could dock a few shuttles and the DOTU spaceship inside them, and can even carry 150 more crew members.
The spaceship was at the final phases of its construction. A few robots were melding the parts together and doing some calibrations.
"Why are you placing a giant skull on the ship's front? Will we become pirates next?" Annika asked curiously.
"What 'we'? You're not coming." Meowth teased. Then, Annika punched the cat's head, making a big bump appear on his head. Meowth was in tears and he ran towards Dawn's back.
"I don't know why, but Ryan felt that it'll be really crucial to the design." Dawn explained about the giant skull.
The spaceship Arcadia that he has built was from the blueprint he received as a reward before. After some discussion, Dawn will enter the galaxy to investigate and gather the data for an upcoming plan.
"It's great to strike fear in the hearts of the enemies." Hela said with dignity in her voice. She was very satisfied seeing the menacing looks of the spaceship.
"Like I said before. We're not going to fight anyone." Dawn said while shaking his head slightly.
"But if they attack us first, won't we fight for our protection?" Hela said with a smirk.
"Sure. We can destroy them at that time." Dawn answered casually, despite him coming off as merciless.
After checking the ship, Dawn walked to the center of the island. There, Frank Castle was waiting for him.
Frank was wearing a t-shirt with a skull on it, a trench coat, and a giant gun on his back.
"Have you decided to go now? I thought that you'll wait a little longer." Dawn asked.
Frank shook his head and said, "The longer I wait, the lesser my enemies will be. I don't want to lose them to Ryan. I want to kill them all by myself."
The enemies that had attacked his family from the shadows and almost killed them, he will get his revenge quickly this time. It's only been 3 months since the attack on his family.
However, at the rate Ryan was cleaning up the country at the moment, it was so fast that he would lose his target if he waited any longer.
"Ryan will be glad you're on his team." Dawn said. "Don't kill the heroes that will try to stop you, okay?" Dawn advised.
Frank Castle nodded and teleported to New York. He will return to meet his family on a monthly basis, until all the scums on Earth are eradicated.
His first target will be the DOD and Kingpin. Although Ryan had killed a lot of the thugs, some of them didn't warrant his purification as they didn't commit any violent crimes.
The punisher had no qualms about the law and will do what he couldn't do during the time he became Tarot.
At that time Dawn was preparing to enter the galaxy, Ryan summoned an elite agent from SHIELD to his office. However, her true alignment was with SWORD, and only Fury knew about it.
"Miss Abigail Brand." Ryan shook hands with the agent.
"Director Knight. I was wondering why have you called me here?" Abigail asked.
She looked a lot like the actress he knew before in his previous life, and it caused him to be nostalgic. 'Will she too become a mother of dragons like Daenerys?'
"I have called you here so that I can give you an important mission." Ryan said while handing her sunglasses.
"This is?" The green haired woman asked.
"A device that could identify the Skrulls. After the Insight Project incident, the Skrulls on Earth have gone into hiding. Your task will be to find them."
Before she could say anything, Ryan took out a holographic panel and explained to her the mission's details.
"This is Queen Veranka. She is the Queen of the Skrull and she is leading her people to invade our world. Contrary to Talos whom you had come in contact with, she wanted to enslave all mankind or kill us all."
"The justification? They have received a prophecy in which it was mentioned that Skrulls' new hometown will be Earth after their planet was destroyed."
Abigail was surprised to know that Ryan already knew everything about her, even the matter related with the Skrulls that was hidden deeply by Fury. Ryan continued his briefing and provided her with evidence on all the data he has explained, causing Abigail to raise her impression on him.
"The Skrulls had infiltrated a few government agencies and research labs before. They are researching how to awaken their dormant potential and create the Super-Skrulls."
"A being that not only can copy a person's identity and memory, but also their superpowers. You can understand why I need you to find the queen as fast as you canright?"
Abigail was shocked when she heard what the Super Skrulls could do.
"Will these glasses be able to identify the Super-Skrulls?" She asked. Her face was full of determination, and she felt that this was a heavy responsibility on her shoulder.
"No." Ryan answered. Abigail now understands his urgency to find the queen. They needed leverage to win the war. The queen will be a nice leverage to draw out the Super-Skrulls.
"I would've asked for Fury to support you, but his trial is still ongoing. So you have to do this by yourself first."
"Who will be on my team?" Abigail asked.
"Me. and Carol Danver."
