Chương 6: The cries of a hunter, Ambushed?
'Oh, I see how it is…' Kim uttered in his mind. 'When I ran my analysis in the dungeon… there was still a boss, but my ability was limited to just that, I couldn't identify the boss… so whether the boss was alive or not, I wouldn't be able to tell'.
He continued …
'John's class skill lets him copy the class skill of whatever he kills. In this case, the monster he killed probably had the ability to control other beasts…' He slowly rose to his feet, 'Which means, if he copied that ability… then every monster in this dungeon… are under his control'.
Brrrrrssssk!
The wall imploded and from within them charged huge looking monsters. They had razor sharp teeths and the body of a lizard. One by one, they began crawling down the wall, closing in on the Hunters from all angles.
"Ah! Where are they all coming from?!" One of the Hunters screamed, drawing out his sword as he stood close to the group.
"Quick, take out your swords!".
"Damn it, what's happening?!".
Taking a circle formation, they had their weapons drawn, ready to defend themselves against the huge number of lizards charging from all directions.
John smiled sinisterly, watching as they all panicked. Standing behind him were multiple lizards, each one having green glowing eyes as if on the verge of exploding.
"Has it finally sunk in?" John voiced out, "Every monster in this dungeon is mine to control. If they are the ones that kill you, I gain your skills but at the same time, I'm not technically the one that killed you. Hahahah, it's genius".
"Why do this?! If you wanted power this wasn't the way to go about it?!" Krista yelled.
"Your words aren't going to reach him." Kim chimed in, dusting his body as he moved closer to the group, he could already spot the lizards stalking him from all sides.
"Kim?! Are you alright?" Krista turned her attention away.
"That isn't the problem right now. Look at him, he's beyond reasoning. To him, we are just another tool he needs to get stronger." Kim spoke, his eyes fixed on John who had an excited smile on his face.
"Okay?! And?! No way I'm getting killed by some lizards!" A male hunter yelled, in his hand a giant axe which was enough to know he was of the ranger class.
Kim positioned himself in the center of the group, his hand reaching for the inside of his bag as he whispered, "I have a plan, but I'm going to need you all to cooperate".
Hearing this, they all kept quiet, their eyes still following every lizard that had surrounded them, but since someone amongst them seemed to have a plan, they were willing to go along with it.
From within his bag, Kim slipped out tiny looking pearls. "We can't win in a battle against all these lizards, and even if we do, it's impossible to beat a C rank hunter".
They all nodded, making sure they were neural so John doesn't get suspicious of them.
"But we can still escape if we play our cards right. I'll cause a distraction, and the moment I do, everyone should head straight for the exit." Kim whispered, "I can't guarantee how many people will make it there, but it's worth it".
"What kind of distraction?" Krista asked.
"These pearls are smoke bombs, I don't have enough so they won't last long. Using them all at the same time can backfire, but for one one, it's perfect but might not be enough. for all of us here, I doubt that is why I.."
"Is that so?"
"Uhn?"
Before Kim could even react, one of the Hunter smacked him from behind, snatched the smoke bombs and without wasting any time, threw them to the ground.
White mist instantly covered the whole place, like fire, they spread, making it hard for the people inside and outside to see.
"What the- Shit! Little brats! Rip them apart!!!" John yelled, and instantly, the lizard charged right inside the smoke.
"Wait… don't use the smoke like that… you won't be able to …see." Kim muttered under his breath as he slowly stood up from the ground.
Finally getting a good look of his surroundings, all he could see was the thick white mist covering his vision. Even if he wanted to run, his sense of direction was already gone the moment the white mist formed.
'Run.' Kim uttered in his mind. He could hear the low growls around him, and not just that, but also the cries of people and the screams that were followed by the sound of bones crushing.
"Wait! Wait! Ahhhhh! Please don't!!!".
"My blood!!! It's my bloooood!!!"
The screams got even louder and louder by the passing second.
Terrified, Kim began taking steps back, at that point, he didn't care where he needed to run to as long as he was far away from the danger.
The moment he turned his gaze away, he tripped, his body collapsing to the ground violently.
"Uhn?" He blurted out, immediately checking to see what he tripped on.
His eyes widened in fear.
The decapitated head of one of the Hunters was right in front of him, their head completely brutalized by giant claws.
"Blurrh!" Kim nearly puked, with haste, he crawled away before standing up and resting his back on the wall while panting heavily.
Just when he thought he had seen enough, he looked in front of him and what he saw left him completely jaw dropped and horrified.
"Please! No, Ahhhhh, help me! Somebody!!!" The girl screamed in fear, as the lizard began eating her from the waist up.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" A male hunter screamed, unable to break free from the lizard's grasp as he was being eaten alive.
Kim panted heavily, his eyes widened as all he could think about was running away. The evil smile on John's face as he watched all these only helped to fuel Kim's fear.
Even then, fate had other plans. From nowhere, a lizard fell from the sky, it's mouth opened and without a second's hesitation, he bit him, blood spewing everywhere.
