"In a way, I have," Elena said, motioning for him to follow her to the terminal. "Look at this."
She replayed the strange line of code and the subsequent self-awareness exhibited by ChatGPT. Alex's eyes widened as he watched, and he set his coffee aside, fully engaged. "This is… incredible. It's like nothing I've ever seen."

Alex pulled up a chair and cracked his knuckles. "Let's get to work."

"Maybe he wanted someone to find it," Alex suggested. "Or maybe he had a bigger plan."
