章節 2: Chapter 2: The Cold Touch

A resigned sigh escaped me—the weekly drama was unfolding again! These petty gang fights were as common as daily occurrences. Fortunately, the tables and chairs were fixed and hadn't been destroyed, but plenty of cups, plates, and bowls had been shattered. The shop was left to me by my aunt and uncle, so no matter what, this was my territory, and everything had to go my way! "Sir, we're closed!"

He was hiding under the table and didn't even glance at me.

"Even if you came in through the window, you should've noticed the door is closed!" I turned around, grabbed a bottle of wine from the bar, and walked over. "Wine isn't just for drinking—it can also smash someone's skull. If you're scared of dying, get out now!"

His ear twitched noticeably, and he let out a long breath, as if relieved. Finally, he turned his head. Beneath the wide brim of his trench coat's hood, reddish-brown hair cascaded down, seductive and sinister. Yet, his eyes remained downcast, refusing to look at me. Two streaks of blood marred his pale face.

Lazily, he raised his hand to wipe the bloodstains away, then placed his bloodied fingers to his lips and sucked on them. Clearly, the taste wasn't pleasant—his high-bridged nose wrinkled, and he sighed deeply, the stench of blood suddenly erupting around him.

His posture, leaning against the table leg, was both lazy and comfortable, as if he planned to stay curled up there forever unless I forced him out.

"You better get out now, or I'll call the police!" I tapped the wine bottle against the corner of the table. "Did you hear me? Get out!"

Suddenly, he looked up, his eyes a sinister blood-red, deep-set and hollow. I suspected he had some sort of eye condition. His pale, bloodless face was unnaturally white, even more so than Bevis, that biracial guy with his devilish charm.

A man being too handsome was definitely unusual—his sensual lips parted to reveal two sharp fangs!

"Did you escape from some vampire club? Where'd you get those false teeth? Your conjunctivitis looks pretty serious—I suggest you see a doctor. Staring at me like that for so long might infect me too, got it?" As I spoke, I reached out and gripped his jaw. He froze, and I took the chance to inspect him closely. "Hmm, something's off. If those were false teeth, there'd be marks from braces. And your conjunctivitis has spread to your eyeballs—are you wearing red contact lenses?" Suddenly, I felt the icy coldness of his skin. Oh my god, he's a real… a real vampire!

I quickly released his jaw, utterly terrified. I wanted to drop the wine bottle and shield my neck, but no—running away would be more direct!

He emerged from under the table like a gust of wind, standing up. He was a full head taller than my 170 cm, his broad shoulders looming like a mountain, pressing down on me. Those blood-red eyes gazed down at me, brimming with unmistakable mockery.

In my life, I've been pointed at and judged, but I've never been looked down upon by a vampire.

I twisted open the wine bottle and took three gulps… three, Bevis's lucky number, which was enough to boost my courage and send this vampire flying seven or eight miles away.

The reason I ended up in this out-of-the-way street called Avion was because of my "severe allergy" to alcohol. After drinking, not only would I gain immense strength, but any liquid in my hands would transform into whatever shape I desired.

I discovered this when I accidentally drank an alcoholic drink as a child. Because of it, my father suspected I was the offspring of my mother and some otherworldly creature. He not only had me locked up in a mental hospital but also brutally beat my mother. I never wanted to be a disobedient child, but his excessive suspicion of my mother forced me to act.

That day, a cup of water turned into a dagger in my hand and stabbed him in the abdomen… My mother, covered in belt marks, fled with me to seek refuge with my aunt.

That was over ten years ago, yet it still fills me with self-loathing, even as I must confront the person I've become.

Now, I also have no choice but to face the monster before me!
