Synopsis

I thought everything was over.
I thought I would be free from everything.
But then...he showed up.
Why? Why did it have to be now?
"Look at me, Tilda," His soothing voice came.
I didn't want to look at him. I knew better than to do so.
I felt his hand on my chin and he titled my face in the direction of his.
I knew myself very well. I couldn't resist those eyes...those eyes, there was something about them that I couldn't resist. He didn't know, but he was luring me further into a trap that I knew I could never find my way back.

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by!However, this is my very first romance novel on here that is placed in a Nigerian setting. Ocean eyes is just a novel I started writing for fun and that's one of many reasons why I love it. I hope you get the same experience of fun while reading.

This is a very fun and enjoyable read. At first, I was confused by the language; however, the information at the bottom of the chapters cleared up any confusion. The writing quality is top-notch. And the novel itself is a breadth of fresh air.

To be honest, I actually didn't think much of this novel at first since I'm not a fan of romance novels. But something drew me to it. I found things that I could relate with in real life. Maybe it's because I'm a Nigerian and the use of the vocabulary is purely Nigerian (English and broken English - pidgin) is something I hear on a daily basis. Also, the behaviours and attitudes of the different characters are very realistic. For example, the character of her Mother. I just love how the author portrays Nigeria correctly in this book.

The start is quite intense. It was emotionally driven. The opening is strong, and gripping, and sets a dark and heavy tone for the narrative. The author was sensitive in portraying the character's emotional turmoil and desperation. Nonetheless, this can still feel somewhat jarring to some readers, but it is necessary to set the stage for the emotional oscillations to follow. I also believe that showcasing the school life of the character is smart. It explores the protagonist's contrasting public persona versus her private struggles. It highlights how people with mental health can appear very differently on the surface. Chapter after chapter the tension grows higher. Layers and layers of conflict have been added. IMO, the story is quite engaging and will encourage the readers to invest in the journey of the protagonist. However, there are instances when it feels melodramatic. Also, the dialogue part sometimes veers toward being 'on-the-nose' which may affect the potential realism of the story. Still, I love several aspects of this story, especially the 1st person POV which allows the readers to look deeply into the feelings and thoughts of the character. The exploration of the conflicts and the mental health of the character is done with raw intensity. This is not the usual story that you will encounter here on this platform, but I suggest you give it a chance.

This story brings me back to my days in secondary school 😭 As a Nigerian, a lot of MC’s experiences are immensely relatable and made this such a fun novel to read. The author’s way of writing is also immensely gripping and I absolutely love MC’s best friend! She’s literally me as a person (minus the wealth 💀) I can’t wait to read more!

A great novel properly portraying Nigerian lifestyle, though not a fan of romance. This one has a special vibe to it. You should really give it a try 'cos you'll enjoy it!

When I first saw the title of the novel, I was like "😨What Nigerian romance". but when I started reading it I was actually impressed, although I don't know much about romance life because I have not experienced it 🤧or even like romance novels much. 😐 I have to admit the authors novel is amazing. 😁🤧 Keep it up.

So far, the story is very interesting and it did hook me up🤭 can’t wait to read more. The way the author conveys words and expressions used by Nigerians only makes the book more unique and it’s done very well! Good job 👏 keep it!
