I mean, a huge part of this story is how it's the biggest VR mmo, though I also see your point of when people can use deduction with their past knowledge. I guess for a true to realism, mmo guild, they are behind, but for your reading enjoyment, I suggest you take the what I like to call "the horror movie approach" where the people in the horror movie don't watch horror movies.
