In dune they have genetic memories of a clone and that makes up the person. But they are not the real person in terms of the mind. But the brain has the memory. Damons body is a clone but not the mind. Because the mind continues to live on while normally it dies off and only genetic memories are left. And this is why his clone is diffrent because essentially it’s the real him just in a new body and he has free will while other clones made by the branch of bene gesserit don’t. The body is a clone but not the spiritual mind. That can’t be cloned and that is the difference with his clone and his fathers. He protects the mind
