Gao Huan (496 - 547), also known as He Liuhun, was a powerful official of the Eastern Wei Dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. He was the actual founder of Northern Qi and Emperor Shenwu of Northern Qi. He was born in the 19th year of Taihe of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (495 years) and died in the 5th year of Wuding of the Eastern Wei Dynasty (547 years). He was originally from the county of Bohai Sea (now Jing County, Hebei Province) and was born in the family of soldiers in Huaishuo Town (now Guyang County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region). Gao Huan's grandfather Gao Mi once served as an official in the Northern Wei Dynasty, but was moved to Huaishuo Town because of breaking the law. Gao Huan lost his mother when he was young, and his foster home was poor. It was only when he got married and had his father-in-law's support that he had his own horse. He joined the town army and became the leader of the town army, responsible for protecting the border and local security.
