The idiom story of beating the grass and alerting the snake originated from the Tang Dynasty. The protagonist of the story was a man named Wang Lu, who was a county magistrate in Dangtu. Wang Lu was greedy for wealth and often plundered the property of the people. The officials under him also took bribes and bullied the people. The commoners hated these corrupt officials and hoped that they would have a chance to punish them. Once, when the imperial court sent officials to inspect the local situation, the people jointly wrote a complaint, exposing the corruption in the county government. This complaint was first sent to Wang Lu. When Wang Lu saw that the crimes listed in the complaint were almost identical to his own illegal acts, he was very afraid. He wrote eight words on the piece of paper: "Although you are cutting grass, I have been frightened by snakes." It meant that the purpose of doing this was to hit the grass on the ground, but I was like a snake hiding in the grass. I was already frightened. Later on, people used the phrase Wang Lu wrote to describe the situation. It was used to describe the person who was not cautious and instead alerted the other party.

I woke up in this world with a System and a sword. Without hesitation, I chose to complete the princess’ quest with my weapons: Arrogance. Cunning. Pride. I will lead guild Sol Invictus. Denizens of the 7 hells, respect me. Servants of the 11 heavens, know fear. Guild Invictus, know the suffering of training so you can wrest victory from the jaws of those who dare doubt you. This is a story about a snake named Tycondrius waking up in a fantasy world of swords and sorcery. There is action, violence, unapologetic murder, and arrogant displays of power. There is an emphasis on combat growth as well as psychological growth on more than a few members of Guild Invictus. There is camaraderie and also the inevitable comedic dialogue amongst manly men. There are even elements of romance and Tycon running away from terrifying, powerful women. (Did you know most female snakes eat their partners after mating?) Give this book a read. I hope some of these stories can inspire you to fight your battles with analytical intelligence, heroic courage, and ruthless lethality. Work is completed as of 9May2024. He Yuan had accidentally caused his own death. He had no idea he was even dead until he suddenly woke up on the hard floor of an empty room. What had killed him? Well... for future reference, it's a terrible idea to install a chandelier over your bed. As he tried to get his bearings right, a strange guy suddenly popped out of thin air and he was offered a job. The job offer granted him eternal life with the alternative being reincarnation. Most would hastily choose to be reincarnated so they can start a new life but not He Yuan. He was skeptical, why would anyone want reincarnation? Once you reincarnated 'you' cease to exist. He didn't care about what people said about starting afresh, gaining new memories and all that. All he knew was that once a person reincarnated, they get thrown into a different environment, different family, meet new people and in short became a different person entirely. What scared He Yuan the most was losing his own thoughts and hence, awareness of his current self and so, he chose to accept the job. What did the job entail? He carried out tasks given to him by people who were called 'leasers.' They were called this because they leased out their bodies to 'taskers' for a period of time to help set their crooked lives straight. What the leasers didn't know was that the taskers got into realms and helped them so they( taskers) could focus on their own main tasks which was world/realm balance. These realms had 'special ones' who siphoned the luck out of it. Luck was the binding force of these realms so without it, the realms would begin to break apart and deteriorate into unlivable hells. So in essence, leasers gave put their bodies and 'payment' in the form of soul energy, taskers helped out the leasers while balancing the realms and the realms become stable once more. Pretty straightforward right? Yes. But can someone tell He Yuan why these world was so full of hypocrites, Mary sue and Gary stu characters who thought it was excusable to do horrible things just because they were in love? He Yuan grit his teeth. If you want to be in love, then be in love, was there any need to use others as stepping stones?! He rolled up his sleeves and bounced forward. Just you wait as I teach you all a valuable lesson! #Gongmc UPDATES: Twice daily ORIGINAL STORY. The idiom story of a snake wanting to swallow an elephant

The idiom story of the snake wanting to swallow an elephant originated from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, the Classic of the South in the Sea, and the Asking Heaven by Qu Yuan of the Warring States Period. According to legend, there was a giant snake called the Ba-Serpent in ancient times. It was 180 meters long and could swallow elephants. After swallowing an elephant, the Ba-Serpent would need three years to spit out the elephant's bones. This story was used by later generations as a metaphor for people's great greed and insatiable greed. The idiom "a snake wants to swallow an elephant" meant that a person's desire was too great and exceeded his ability. This story tells us to be content and not greedy.

Tell me the full story of 'a snake in the grass'.

A'snake in the grass' is an idiom. It generally refers to a person who seems friendly but is actually treacherous. In a story sense, it could be about someone who pretends to be a good friend to the main character. They are around all the time, acting nice. But then, when the opportunity arises, they stab the main character in the back, perhaps stealing their job, or spreading false rumors about them. It's like a hidden danger, just like a snake hiding in the grass that you don't notice until it's too late.
