I once had an Airbnb horror story. When I arrived at the place, it smelled really bad, like mold and old cigarettes. The pictures online were clearly from a long time ago as the place was run - down. There were also bugs in the bathroom. I immediately contacted the host but they were unresponsive. I had to find another place to stay at the last minute which was a huge hassle.

There were also strange marks on the walls that looked like they were made by something scratching. I left the next day.

He didn't let her go out alone, not even to visit her parents. It was like she lost all her freedom overnight. She was constantly living in fear and stress.

Despite reporting it immediately, Turo didn't seem to take it seriously and didn't offer any real solutions. The renter had to endure the smell throughout the rental period, which was really unpleasant.

Water didn't fill evenly, and it actually looked really strange. The owners had to pay a lot more to have the pool removed, the area re -leveled, and then a new pool installed.
