The people have begun to integrate the AIs into their body and are using them to assist them in various tasks with one of them being fighting. Due to importance of AIs in the daily life many people have a fierce competition to develop the "best" AI. Our main character is Ikeda Satoru. Satoru had a troubled childhood, losing his parents when he was very young. He finally was able to revenge the death of his parents in a research facility on Mars. After the revenge he decided to start a new life and go back to Earth to be a "normal" student at a university. Unbeknownst to him is that his dark past is going to be catching up to him, even on another planet.
