The story takes place in a world of civilized anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between the preys and predators. Yuka the Mouse is a miniature and modest high school student from the Aichi Prefecture. Yuka takes an instant disliking to Toru and the spiteful and cowardly ways he learnt during his years in Tokyo. However, when a lion tries to hit Yuka, Toru springs to the rescue. But, the pressures of Toru's job as a predator leave him blind to Yuka's affections and Yuka takes up making music to try an distract himself. Finally, when cold-blooded class representative, Nozomi the Rabbit, threatens to come between them, Yuka has to act fast. But will they ever find the tender love that they deserve?
