"Never forget to cover the mark, you know how insecure you are about it", Elena's mother, Kate, chuckled softly as she adjusted the silk scarf Elena wore over her head.
“I will, mother. Take the drugs accordingly", Elena hugged her mother tightly, tears streaming down her face.
Kate patted her daughter's face once more. “Remember, do not get too close with anyone. Always mind your business. Your father would be very proud of you", she smiled lightly, memories of her late husband flooding her mind.
“I need to get to the bus stop in time. Goodbye mother”, Elena picked up her suitcase and quickly walked away, not wanting to be reminded of her late father.
Her mother watched with tears in her eyes as her nineteen-year-old daughter struggled with the briefcase in her hand. Letting her go to work as a maid in the palace of the emperor was a very tough decision to make.
