Chapter 10: Ch 9: National Diet

{A/N: I would like to say that I will make this The Tempest here a Galactic Empire with Multiple Planets as their colony}

---This Chapter is Written by Void-King---

Japan Standard Time: 15:20

The National Diet is being broadcast around the world, with multiple people tuned in, from influential individuals to the common folks.

It has been four months since the Ginza Incident and a few weeks since Tempest revealed themselves to the world.

The deliberations will start at 16:00.

Their first topic is the attack of the Fire Dragon on the people of Coda Village.

The Diet members have started asking questions to the witnesses from the Special Region.

The first person to ask questions is Diet member Kouhara Mizuki.

"I'll get straight to the point: why were 150 Special Region refugees, who were supposed to be under SDF protection, killed by a Class-A Dangerous Animal you refer to as a 'Dragon'?" Mizuki asks with a smile on her face.

"Witness Itami," the spokesperson said as Itami stood up and went to the podium.

Before Itami stood up, he could hear Rimuru saying the words, "They really think that fighting a dragon will come out without any casualties? What an idiotic way of thinking."

Itami could also see Chloe, Benimaru, and Diablo nodding at Rimuru's words.

*sigh* 'At least Rimuru-san knows how difficult it was to fight a dragon,' he thought as he went to the podium to answer Mizuki's question.

The camera and the people's attention were now focused on him, waiting for his response.

"Uh, well... to answer your question about the casualties, it's probably because the dragon was so strong," he said in a calm voice.

"How can you be so calm? Don't you feel any responsibility for the loss of those lives?" Mizuki replied.

"I'm sad that so many were killed. I also felt that our own capabilities were lacking."

"So you're admitting that the SDF is at fault?"

"No. We lacked sufficient firepower."

"Huh?" Mizuki let out a confused response to what Itami said.

"Our 7.62mm rounds bounced off it like they were BBs."

{A/N: BB means Ballistic Bullets used in Airsoft Guns.}

"I really wished we'd had a stronger weapon. A charged particle beam, a railgun, a graviton bomb, or something."

"Ahh, if I may, Chairman," a person raised his hand and went to the podium.

"Our analysis of the sample from the Special Region shows that this Dragon had scales as strong as tungsten and could exhale high-temperature flames. It was essentially a flying tank. Demanding zero casualties when fighting such a monster is rather unreasonable, wouldn't you say?" the man said, satisfying Mizuki.

"Very well... then my next question is for Leleila La Lalena."

Lelei was asked about her life inside the refugee camp, and she answered all of Mizuki's questions.

Next, Tuka and Rory were questioned, and both gave answers affirming that the J.S.D.F is doing their job The Diet was Hitting up when Rory Called Mizuki A Little girl but it was stop by the Chairman.

Diet member Kouhara Mizuki didn't have any choice but to move on to the next topic: the annihilation of a bandit group the size of an army, resulting in the loss of over a million lives. She wanted someone to be held responsible, and her target was Rimuru himself, who was sitting and waiting casually for his turn.

"My question this time is about the loss of a million lives, and it is for Rimuru Tempest," she said, and Rimuru nodded and went to the podium.

"Can you speak and understand Japanese?" she asked.

"Yes," Rimuru answered in Japanese.

"Then is it true that you were once Japanese?"

"Well, there's no point in hiding it. Yes, I was once Japanese, who died and got reincarnated in another world as a slime," Rimuru said, and to back up what he said, he transformed himself into a slime.

The entire world chat went wild due to this revelation, and some even started thinking that if they die, they could be reincarnated too.

"But how could that be?" Mizuki asked.

"Girl, there's a lot of mystery in the universe that your species has yet to learn, so I suggest that we don't talk about it here," Rimuru said.

"I see, then let us proceed to the main topic," Mizuki showed a chart with a number of one million plus, indicating the casualties in the previous battle in the city of Italica. "Over a million souls have been lost during the fight to defend the city of Italica, and almost all of these lives were taken by your countrymen. Do you feel any guilt for the lives that you have taken?"

"Hmmm... I'm saddened that more than a million lives were lost, but if you're going to ask if I feel guilt, then I don't," Rimuru said in a calm manner.

"How can you say that in a calm manner? We are talking about a million souls that have been lost during that battle, a million lives that are taken by you," Mizuki pressured Rimuru to answer. Her aim for asking Rimuru this is for him to be held accountable for the loss of those lives, and since the J.S.D.F is also involved, they will also be held accountable for it. Rimuru knew that this won't end if he doesn't answer.

"So what if I took over a million lives? No matter what I say here, they won't return to life, and furthermore, I did what is right for the greater good," Rimuru said.

"What do you mean by 'you did what is right'?"

"Listen up. Do you think they would surrender if we gave them a chance? No, it would only fuel their desire for revenge. If they are left unchecked, they will regroup and find a new approach, continuing to kill innocent lives. If you don't like the actions that I took, then you're nothing but a naive little girl who doesn't even know the basic rules of the battlefield," Rimuru said.

"You! I've had enough of you. First, that black-haired girl called me a little girl, and now you're calling me a naive little girl. I don't know how the rules in your world work, but here we respect our elders. Know your place, little kid," Mizuki said.

"Hmm... Are you perhaps signing a death deal with a reaper?" Rimuru said as he looked at Mizuki with his menacing eyes.

Before the situation got any more heated, Itami decided to interfere and push Rimuru back to his seat.

"You're no fun, Itami," Rimuru whispered.

"Just shut up and sit," Itami said.

Once Rimuru took a seat, Shuna and Benimaru leaned towards Rimuru and asked, "Is doing that necessary, Rimuru-sama?" the two siblings asked.

"Hehehe... Well, let me have some fun once in a while," Rimuru said jokingly.

Meanwhile, Itami informed the Diet Committee that Rimuru might be one of the oldest living people in the entire room.

"Hmp... Just how old is he anyway?" Mizuki asked.

"My age, huh? I lost count of it, but I know that I'm at least past one million years old," Rimuru said, which shocked the entire room, not just them, but also everyone who was watching it live.

"Impossible... Then how old is Chloe-san?" Mizuki asked.

"As for me, I'm at least past 2,000 years old," Chloe said.

"How about Shuna-san and the two people behind you?"

"Me? I and my brother here are well past 500 years old," Shuna replied, and Benimaru only nodded in agreement with his sister's words.

"Fufufu... As for me, I don't exactly count my age, but I know that I have lived since the dawn of creation," Diablo said.

The world chat was in disarray since none of them could believe that they were so old, with one of them existing since the dawn of creation.

"Then how about Rory-san?" Mizuki asked.

"I'm 961 years old," Rory replied, adding fuel to the already burning information that the humans were gathering.

"And how about Tuka-san?"

"I'm 165 years old," Tuka replied with a smile.

"No way... Then Lelei..."

"No, I'm 15," Lelei said, and Mizuki let out a sigh of relief since at least one of them was still within their understanding.

Lelei went to the podium to explain the population of the Special Region, or

for the people of Tempest, it is known as the Lost World.

"First of all, I'm human. Most of the inhabitants of our world are humans with a lifespan of 75-100 years old. Tuka is a superior race of elves that lives eternally. Meanwhile, Rory was once a human, but ever since she became a demi-god, she stopped aging. Once she reaches a thousand years old, she will no longer need the needs of flesh and she will ascend to godhood," Lelei explained. The world chat was in disarray, with people saying that a god has descended, but they were not ready for what was about to come next.

"Since Lelei-sama has explained their world, let me also explain the population of our world," Shuna said as she stepped onto the podium.

"Our world is made up of many different races, just like the Lost World or what you all know as the Special Region. Our world also has races like elves, humans, dwarves, dragon-men, ogres, kijin, and many more. My race is a Divine Oni. I was once an ogre that went through multiple evolutions, which gave us a longer lifespan," Shuna said. This shocked the internet since their vision of ogres was big, ugly monsters, not a cute girl with white horns.

"Diablo-san is a demon that is born from the great Spirits of Darkness and they live in the underworld...They don't have a physical form and can only stay in the material world for a limited time, but they can also possess bodies to permanently settle in the material world. Demons are classified by their age. For example, demons that are aged 0-30 years are called Late Modern Species, and they are demons with no ego. Next are the demons that live 30-100 years, called Modern Species. They are also demons with a weak ego. The demons that lived from 100-400 years are called Early Modern Species. The next are the Medieval Species, who lived for 400-1000 years, possessing far greater powers than all the previous demons. Next are the Ancient Species, who lived for more than 1000 years. And the last two are known as the Prehistoric Species of demons, who lived for more than 3,000 years old. And the last is called the Primordial, who are the ones that lived since the dawn of creation," Shuna said. Mizuki realized that Diablo is a Primordial since he said it himself that he existed since the dawn of creation.

Of course, Shuna left out the part about the different ranks of demons and their line of age.

"Just one question, Shuna-san. How many Primordials are there?" Mizuki asked, and the entire committee was also interested in her question.

"Well, there are a total of Seven Primordials. They are: The Purple Primordial Violet named Ultima, The WhitebPrimordial Blanc named Testarossa, The Yellow Primordial Jaune named Carrera, The Black Primordial Noir named Diablo, The Green Primordial Vert named Misery, The Blue Primordial Bleu named Rain, The Red Primordial Rouge named Guy Crimson," Shuna said.

"I see."

"Then let's move on. Chloe-sama is a human who was summoned from this world. After a lot of struggle, she evolved from being a human to a True Hero. They are the highest evolution that a human can achieve, and their lifespan also increases. But in Chloe-sama's case, she is already a demigod without a lifespan, and she is also recognized by the world," Shuna said. This created even more noise on the internet since they were in front of real immortal beings. Even Rory, Tuka, and Lelei who were writing down what Shuna said on a notebook that she borrowed from someone in the room.

"Next up is Rimuru-sama. He has the most complex race here, so I will just state his evolutions. Rimuru-sama was once a human who died and was reincarnated as a slime. He evolved into a Majin when Rimuru-sama defeated an Orc Lord. His next evolution is a True Demon Lord, which is the opposite of the True Heroes. True Demon Lords lose their lifespan after their evolution. Next, Rimuru-sama evolved into a True Dragon with no lifespan and became an immortal race that doesn't die. They are considered a natural disaster," Shuna said. After that, the whole place fell silent as everyone was still processing the information they received.

Shuna intentionally left out the part where Rimuru is a god. After her explanation, Shuna went back to her seat.

"Good job, Shuna," Rimuru said, and Shuna blushed and smiled.

Of course, all the information that was released was permitted by Rimuru.

During that time, a new alliance was formed between the Japanese government and Tempest. This was due to Testarossa and the others meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan.
