Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Luna Lovegood

The end of the summer vacation came too quickly for Harry's liking. He was looking forward to continuing his studies at Hogwarts, but at the same time, he was sad that he wouldn't see his fellow peers for a few months again. However, this year he decided to visit them over the Winter Holidays as he had no reason to remain in Hogwarts. All his friends would be home at Christmas with their families anyway, and he had already copied most of the forbidden section, so he had no reason to sneak into it. The rest of the books needed specific care anyway.

He had probably already acquired some better books that would belong there, either with his recent shopping trip to Knockturn Alley or probably were, but removed because of their content. Although he couldn't even buy the really dark stuff, as Mr. Borgin wouldn't bring it out for a new customer. But he could feel it; there were some really nasty things in the back of that store. Someone sensitive to magic could clearly feel it. But no matter how he tried to imply it, the shopkeeper ignored his attempts.

But this trip wasn't for naught as he acquired some interesting dark artifacts, like a cursed dagger that fed on blood. If it collected enough blood from a person, it could pinpoint that person's location. It was an interesting darker enchantment to study. He also acquired a cursed mask granting the ability of Revelio and other revealing charms, but it worked so well that one could see into a parallel dimension existing beside our world, inhabited by dark, vengeful shades of long-past time. If you looked directly at them, they would feel it and attack you.

He got many more different interesting artifacts, like cursed jewelry such as rings, circlets, and amulets, and some bizarre artifacts like the Hand of Glory. However, even if he got them much cheaper than normal, they were still quite expensive. He also acquired some interesting illegal and restricted books, even if the truly dark ones probably weren't among them. Books like "Rites of Malevolence: The Art of Blood Rituals" by Maximus Darkthorn, "Magick Moste Evile" by Godelot, "Curses of the Wicked" by Emeric the Evil, and more interesting tomes, just to mention a few. Although much of their content was illegal to use, they were only restricted so that they wouldn't be reproduced anymore but could still be sold.

This fact told Harry that there were more books for him to acquire, books that were truly forbidden. And Mr. Borgin seemed like the right person with the right talents and connections to get these kinds of books or even more interesting artifacts. But for now, he had to earn the man's trust.

Harry didn't share these artifacts and books with the Magi (that's what he decided to call them) of his universe, as they lacked a lot of experience. They were barely two months old, after all, and you don't give a two-month-old a gun. Well, they had magic, but he decided it was better for now to study this quite dangerous and corrupting magic himself since he, as a devil, a creature of darkness, was far more resistant to these kinds of influences. He really didn't want to let the Magi civilization wipe themselves out with a disaster of their own making. After all, he invested quite a few souls in the creation of their bodies. Although he could harvest the souls inhabiting their bodies, he lost half of them since he needed to use them to create a body. So they had to reproduce first to make up for these losses. Recreating them would cost him half of the souls again.

Being punctual, he arrived early at King's Cross Station, again through the Floo Network, arriving at the platform where the scarlet red Hogwarts Express was already waiting for the students to arrive.

As he couldn't spot any of his friends, he decided to board the train and reserve one of the compartments for all of them. He chose a nice and empty one at the end of the train, as they would probably start looking from there since they agreed to share a compartment when they met up in Diagon Alley a few days ago.

Harry didn't have to wait long before the glass door to his compartment opened, revealing a small figure looking at him. It was a girl younger than him, making her one of the new first years. She had shoulder-length, straggly, dirty blond hair with protuberant silvery eyes that had a dreamy look in them and faint eyebrows. As she stared at him, he noticed her quite unique choice of accessory, like a Butterbeer Cork necklace.

She stared at him for a good while with her silvery eyes, which made him feel quite awkward but also gave him the strange feeling as if she were looking through him before he greeted her, "Eh, Hello, how can I help you?"

"Hello," she replied as if she had noticed him only just now, "Can you fly with your wings?"

This question shocked Harry. He expected a lot of possible replies, but this caught him off guard. How did she see his devil wings? Looking over his shoulder, he confirmed that they were still hidden inside him, as they usually manifested through his demonic power. As he looked back at the girl with a confused gaze, she was still staring at him as if expecting an answer.

"I am not quite sure what you are talking about," he replied carefully. Maybe this was just the fantasy of a girl with a very active imagination.

"Silly, of course, you know what I am talking about. You don't have many Nargles around you. Your wings are quite beautiful; I like that leathery bat look. I am Luna Lovegood, by the way. It's nice to meet you," she replied with a dreamy smile.

"Ehm, I am Harry Potter. It is nice to meet you too, Luna. How can you see them?" he asked, interested.

"I just do. I see many things others don't because they close their eyes," she replied without really explaining anything.

Realizing that she was that kind of person, he sighed, "Could you keep my wings a secret? I don't really share that fact with others," he requested politely.

"Oh, sure. I know that devils no longer deal with wizards. They even destroyed almost all records of them. So you are the first one I've met. I hope we can be friends in the future. I always wanted to have a devil friend," she nodded as if everything was completely normal.

"Well, thank you, Luna. I am sure we can be friends. Though I am not sure how you know about devils," muttered Harry.

"I already said they only destroyed almost all records," replied Luna as if it were obvious.

"I see," nodded Harry before he changed the topic, "So what are Nargles?" and began to learn a bit about the colorful world of Luna Lovegood before his friends arrived and joined them in their compartment. Harry was very fascinated by the small girl; she had some form of unique gift, and he was interested to learn more about her.
