Chapter 4: Raise

What came out of the egg was no other than our very own chicken.

Alchemist Mo was shocked out of his mind.He blinked ,slowly got angry and then calmed down. After all at his age he have experienced many ups and downs.A great, old ass chinese guy once said "Life is like getting raped; If you can't help it… might as well enjoy it". His luck was simply too poor. Who would have known that the egg would have a living Jungle Fowl inside?

His heart bled as he saw the precious ingredients wasted. Although these weren't his lifetime savings, it would take him several months to get these ingredients and he was a grand alchemist!

Quickly turning off the fire, he scooped the chicken out of the cauldron. He started thinking about how he could salvage the situation.

He started thinking about drinking the soup straight up. After all isn't that better than just wasting the ingredients? Though not in pill form it could still give him a great boost in vitality and spirit. No, he had better not. That fowl just took a mouth rinse in that soup. Who knows what type of impurities he would get from this soup.

Meanwhile, Chicken was coughing as he had almost drowned in soup. The chicken had drank several mouthfuls in the process. Chicken was coughing out lots of goo. The liquid was hot but at the same time it gave a refreshing sensation. What the hell was going on.

He gave a mighty cuck for help. But unexpectedly a tiny "chirp" came out his mouth!

Chicken felt as though his Heaven and Earth had flipped upside down. His pride and glory has been reduced to this state.

Chicken continued to suffer in pain but it all felt miniscule compared to the loss of his elegant voice.

At this moment some shocking changes were going though his body. Ever since he left the Court of Afterlife, his mind was getting more and more blurry. The increased IQ from the Court of Afterlife was wearing off but somehow the liquid was reinforcing his mind.

Mo raised a brow as he saw the amount of liquid the chicken just coughed up.

How can such a small chicken cough out so much liquid? Luckily the soup it had spat out was still in the spoon. He can still save this liquid! He dipped the chicken in the thick liquid once more like a chicken nugget.

Putting the spoon on the edge of the cauldron, he was determined to save every drop of the remaining liquid.

Chicken was going crazy. Since when was he treated this way? What sort of luck did he have. What was going on? First he got dropped in boiling liquid. Now he was getting cooked in it again! At this rate he will be reunited with his love, bird mouth, quite soon. What sort of damn hell did those people up in heaven send him into!?

~Later That Day~

Beast Tamer Shan came in and respectfully gave a bow to the Grand Alchemist.

"Greetings Mo, how may I help you with my services?"

"Yes. Thank you for coming so promptly. You see, I have a flaming spirit jungle fowl here. But I'm not quite sure how to raise it."

"Jungle fowls are a little bit tricky here. Although they are quite powerful and make great ingredients, they tend to be a little bad tempered and will not recognize a human as its owner. The cost of raising it may be more than it's worth." Shan said.

Chicken was shocked out of his mind by what was being said. "Great ingredients my ass." He rushed to the alchemist and snuggled his leg. Chicken was behaving as good as he can.

He would not allow the incident that had ended his magnificent previous life to occur again!

The alchemist looked at the fowl. This is bad tempered? Didn't he literally just dumped this guy in boiling liquid just now?

Furthermore, he can't give up on the chicken now. What a joke. He wasn't going to waste such precious material. Who else is going to drink all that disgusting liquid?

Beast Tamer Shan face slightly flushed red as he witnessed the birds actions; he confused as well but he quickly dismissed the thought. After all, how could he possibly know everything about all the various types of fowls?

What he didn't know however was the fact that the chicken was actually just a normal chicken! Not a flaming spirit fowl. After all, the chicken is a descendant of a jungle fowl, so they looked pretty much the same. Not to mention the chicken got slightly cooked in soup.

"It's fine, I'll get a disciple to raise it for me. Mind I trouble you to tell Lin the responsibilities."

And just like that he past all the responsibilities to Lin Feng.

However, Lin Feng wasn't displeased at all about this at all. In fact he was glad. Having an opportunity to gain a favor from the grand alchemist could be considered the accumulated fortune of multiple lives!

Alchemist Mo's disciple had been missing for years now. Perhaps with some luck he can be the next disciple!

Lin Feng hurried over and picked the chicken carefully. Surprisingly the chicken gently rubbed his head on his hand. Acting like they were best of friends.

Alchemist felt a little relief. It should be easy to raise this fella. Perhaps he'll have a nice pet in the future? Or maybe he could just cook it into sesame chicken when it reached maturity.

Chicken may have been sweet and all in front of the alchemist, but he wasn't a fool. One look and he could tell what type of person Lin Feng was. A punk. A hen. Back where he came from Lin Feng would have been shitting eggs all day and night.

At this moment ,unknowingly, both the chicken and Lin Feng had a strange glint in their eyes.
