Chapter 18: Style and Training
There are only a few more days until the Entrance Exams. I can't say i'm not excited, but I'm confident I'll do well.
Speaking of…. even though I was reluctant at first, I'm glad Momo and I are dating now. Some of our classmates saw us holding hands one day, which caused quite the uproar.
Various questions were asked… the girls mainly asked if we had kissed yet or how long we have been dating. While the boys would ask similar things, but a lot of it was inappropriate.
We managed to tear ourselves away from the crowd, and we start heading home holding hands.
"Hey Izuku."
"What is it Momo?" I ask.
"Can I come watch you train?" she asks.
"I mean sure…" I say confused."
"Alright" she exclaims.
"It won't be until after dinner though."
"That's fine."
"Unless…." I start saying.
"Unless what?" she asks.
"Well do you want to go out to eat tonight?"
She perks up to that and says "Yes, but we should let our parents know first."
After getting our parents permission we head out for dinner. We went to another fast food place, because Momo seemed to love the new food she got to try out. I spent most of the time with a gentle smile on my face watching how excited she got.
After dinner we head over to the Aizawa estate. I stop in front and say "Well Momo… here we are."
"This is where you get your training? It looks... rundown."
"It's not rundown, it's just a very old building. Anyway let's head inside."
We head to the back and enter the dojo to find Kaito Sensei waiting for me.
"Izuku, who is this?" Kaito sensei asks.
I blush a bit before saying "Her name is Momo Yaoyorozu."
"Ah, Yaoyorozu I see" he says while staring at our hands that are still clasped together.
"I'm his girlfriend sir" Momo says.
"Well it looks like Chisa was right, our little Izuku has grown up" Sensei says teasing me.
I blush quite a bit more before yelling out "Kaito Sensei!"
"Alright, alright. So why are you here today Yaoyorozu?"
She is silent for a while and I realize she never told me.
"I want to see what Izuku did to get so strong."
"Wrong!" Kaito Sensei says.
"Wrong?" she asks.
"Izuku didn't come here to get strong, he came here strong. When he came, you know what I saw."
"What did you see?"
"I saw a Quirkless child who should've been depressed, because he just found out he would never get to be a hero."
I look over and see her staring at me with a blank look.
"But instead I saw a child with determination burning in his eyes, he continued to push himself day in and day out. Sure he learned techniques and gained some muscle here, but he came with that strength."
"I see... " she says quietly.
"Now since I've corrected your misconceptions about the young man beside you, why don't we get started Izuku."
"Yes Sensei" I say before turning to Momo who looks like she wants to ask something "Don't worry Momo."
She nods and we let go of each other's hands. I go up to Kaito Sensei and ask "What are we doing today Sensei?"
"Today… we won't be doing anymore of your previous training."
I almost fall over at what he just said and ask "Okay…. what will be working on today?"
"Well… from now on, we are going to work on getting you to create your own style."
"My own style?" I ask confused.
"You are already a Master at the martial arts I've taught you before, but…. you need a style to call your own. Not one that you learned from someone else."
"Alright, how are we gonna do that?" I ask.
He grins and I get a bad feeling, when he says "Same way that we always do my disciple."
This causes me to shiver and I quickly get into a stance, before the "spar" begins. We keep going for an hour until I collapse on the ground.
"Alright Izuku that was a good start, but remember while you need to make your own style, you have a foundation of techniques to base it off of" Kaito Sensei says.
I breath out heavily and say "Yes Sensei."
Not too long after I say that Momo comes up in front of me with a towel and a water bottle in her hands. She starts wiping off the sweat on my face and neck, which causes me to blush a bit.
"Thanks Momo" I say grabbing the hand holding the towel.
"Here Izuku drink some water" she says handing me the bottle.
I take the bottle and drink some water while she continues wiping the sweat off my body.
"My, my, my" we here from the doorway causing the two of us to turn in that direction.
"What do we have here?" Chisa asks with a wicked grin on her face as she walks towards us. "Did you go and get yourself another girlfriend Izuku?"
"What do you mean another?" Momo asks with a not so pleasant voice.
"What I mean is this" she answers as she hugs my head to her chest.
"Let go of my boyfriend!" Momo yells out pulling at my arm.
I manage to get away, not without a massive blush on my face. I turn to see Momo looking more than a little pissed off.
"Chisa neechan, don't make trouble for momo. You know for a fact that momo is my one and only girlfriend" I say sternly.
"Alright, alright" she says then sighs before continuing "You were much cuter when you were just a little kid."
"Izuku… who is this woman to you?" Momo asks carefully.
"Chisa neechan is Sensei's daughter and I grew up getting teased by her more times than I can count."
"I see….."
Chisa starts laughing and I'm curious what possibly could be so funny. Noticing my stare she says "It's just like a young wife and her husband. The wife takes care of the husband and gets jealous. While the husband looks out for his wife and has to explain himself to her."
We both blush at that and she continues "Aww you two are just too cute, so…. Have you kissed yet?"
"Chisa neechan!" I yell.
"Alright, alright. I'll stop teasing you…. for now. Anyway I wanted to let you know, I decided to take a position at U.A."
"Really?" I ask.
"Yep, I'm going to be assisting Recovery Girl in the nurse's office."
"Huh… I guess that'd make sense, given your quirk."
"What does your quirk do exactly Chisa?" Momo asks.
Chisa taps her chin in thought before saying "My Quirk heals people, you know that, however it requires me to look at the wound."
"Wait Chisa neechan. Doesn't that mean if you can't see the wound, that you wouldn't be able to heal them?" I ask,
"That's correct Izuku" she says looking sad "My Quirk does give me a sort of X-ray vision, but it doesn't go too deep. As long as I can see the injury I can heal you up easily, but with cases like yours I can't do much about it."
"It's okay Chisa neechan, i'm alright now" I say trying to cheer her up.
She smiles for a bit before momo gets up and stands in front of Chisa neechan who asks "Yaoyorozu was it? Is there something wrong?"
Momo bows down and says "Please teach me martial arts."
Chisa looks her up and down before asking "Why?"
"Izuku once told me, that I have the power to bring happiness to everyone, but…. I can't bring happiness to anyone without knowing how to protect them first."
"Hmmm…. Why didn't you ask my dad?"
"While I'm sure he is a very good teacher…." she says and then looks up blushing "It's inappropriate for me to be taught by a man, because I don't want someone other than Izuku touching my body."
Chisa starts laughing hysterically "Ha….. you know I think we will get along just fine, but this doesn't mean I will go easy on you."
"I don't expect you to" Momo says.
Chisa nods and then asks "So are you two going to U.A.?"
We both nod to which she asks again "Are you two ready for the entrance exams?"
"Well actually…" Momo starts saying.
"I have everything that I need ready, but Momo doesn't need to take the exam. She got in on recommendation."
"Yeah…" Momo says.
"Oh really, good job. It's not easy to get in on recommendation."
"I know… but…" Momo starts saying.
"Yaoyorozu, if you're thinking that your family pulled some strings to specifically get you the recommendation. Well, you wouldn't be wrong."
We both are surprised at what chisa just said and I was about to say something, but Chisa cut me off saying.
"However, those strings wouldn't be strong enough to pull a recommendation out without strengthening. Strengthening that was caused by the efforts that you have put in."
I grab her hand and give it a squeeze while smiling at her.
"Sigh… well if a unbiased opinion states the same as one that's biased, I guess I should've believed what you told me Izuku."
"It's alright. I don't want to hurt you Momo and you seem to like me being as honest as possible."
"Yeah and how long did that take you with a certain something?" she asks pointedly.
Chisa laughs for a while again "Yaoyorozu give him a break, you're the only girl he has ever liked."
I feel my hand being squeezed a little bit before Momo says "I see…. I'll forgive you… just this one time."
"Alright Izuku, you ready for round two?" Kaito sensei asks.
"Round two?" Momo asks.
"We are about to start our second training session Momo" I say, which causes Momo to turn to me surprised.
"But you just did one and you're exhausted Izuku" Momo says while looking at me with concern.
"Don't worry momo. If it wasn't for the fact that I need more food, I would be able to keep training as long as I had 10 or so minutes to rest."
"Okay…" Momo says still concerned, but I give her a squeeze before getting into a fighting stance.
"Yaoyorozu let's wait off to the side and get to know each other a little bit, next time you come around we'll start your training" Chisa says.
"Alright" Momo says and the two of them sit down at the side.
"Let's go Sensei" I say rushing at him.
