Chapter 2: Discovery and the Snané
When it was my turn I was told to give my name so I said, "My name is Clev James." Jotting down my name they looked at me and said, "you shall touch the Star Orb." With a shaking hand, I set my hand on the orb. As soon as I touched the orb my mind went blank. Then the pain came...
It burned it felt as if thousands of searing hot needles were peacing my skin but weren't penetrating the surface. It felt so painful like the first time someone slashed me with their sword, but back then it didn't burn. Right now it felt like as if someone sliced my hand and put salt on the wound. IT HURT!!!
In those few moments, I bit myself just from the pain so that I wouldn't scream. All it took was a few seconds. Just a few seconds and I was ready to fall over from the pain, but I held back the scream in the back of my throat. Noticing that the orb was done with its job someone removed my hand from the orb, but he was the only one who moved. Everyone was looking at me with shock. It looked as if everyone had seen a ghost. With that Sir. Earl spoke my classification, "H-Hero"
It took me a while to register what he had said I almost thought I heard wrong so I decided to double check, "C-Can you repeat that?" This time he opened his eye's he repeated what I thought I misheard, "Your classification is a hero" it almost was like as if he was wheezing out the word hero. The revelation of what just happened caused a splurge of shocked whispers from the crowd that was surrounding the town center. Some of them spoke loud enough that even I could hear, "A HERO OUR TOWN HAS A HERO?!" "Is this even possible!!" "We are just mishearing things right?" "OUT OF THE HUNDREDS OF TOWNS WE THE SMALLEST HAS A HERO!!!" "IS THIS LUCK?" "Was it a misread by the orb?" "YOU IDIOT!! HOW CAN it be a misread THAT AN ANCIENT RELIC that is even USED BY ROYALTY BE FAULTY!!" With the last shout over in the crowd, many closed their mouths.
Realizing that they had insulted a relic prized by royalty and there was a royal family member there. All stoped talking afraid that they may wind up insulting royalty. When it became silent the general walked up to me then *BLAM* I got hit on the back with a force that felt like bricks. Staggering forward a step the general started to laugh like as if what he did was the funniest thing in the world.
With all that was happening, I almost thought I was asleep. Well, that hit sure proved that it wasn't a dream. So without care for social status, I spoke out, "Well if I am the hero, what do I do now?" Hearing my question Sir. Earl looked to the General who was trying to compose himself and spoke in a demanding voice, "General Mattis, The hero will ride with you back to the castle we shall have him meet the King." With his command, the General composed himself he replied, "This general shall follow your command." With a quick bow, he walked over and tried to pull me towards a carriage that is meant to hold elite generals. Even with his pull on my arm, I held my ground. With that, I got tired of being pulled on so I spoke, "Release my arm general. I can walk on my own." With a quick shake of my arm, his grip was released.
With that, the general followed me since it was obvious I knew where I was going. While walking the General kept mumbling to himself saying things like, "No person should have that much strength after touching the orb....." He said some other things that were basically more or less just pointless chatter that I shouldn't try to listen to, but couldn't help but hear, "Maybe I should ask her... wait for her answer. No no no nevermind... Nah. I am not going to....*Mumble*"
Once we reached the carriage I turned around to the general waiting for him to look up. With that, the general looked up and spoke, "You stay here I will be back in a little while." His words would have caused any person to shudder, but to me, it was like as if he was trying to hit me with a bat. *Ugh* with an unwillingness to stay the general left and returned to Sir. Earl's side. From far away you could tell General Mattis and Sir. Earl was talking about something. From where I was at it almost to the point that they were yelling in the middle of their conversation. With a few finishing words the way the general stomped of and the angry look on Sir. Earl's face. Honestly from this far it almost seemed like as if they were a gay bickering couple.
Looking at me like as if he will kill me the general stomped over and yelled, "GET IN!" Not wanting to anger the crazed general more I went into the carriage. With that, the general got in and slammed the door. *BLAM* with that the carriage started to move with a force as if something was pulling it. the only that was causing the carriage to move that was magic.
*Screech* Sounds came wailing outside of the carriage. That one sound was more like a wail rather than the screech of an iron needle running along a hard surface. Looking out the window I saw something that was well... not expected.
Overhead was a man riding on a Snané. A Snané known as a demon snake is a mythical beast That has the body shape of a snake, but this creature has some things that make it even more dangerous. It has scales like armor it even has wings definitely not a snake. its wings are like bat wings with scales, upon its head sits spikes protruding above its eyes. Its size sits that of legends, so put simply it is giant, and to make it more menacing its scales are black with the ends of the spikes tinted blood red, while its eyes glow bright yellow like as if it's luminescent.
Looking upon the head of the Snané there stood the man gripping the spikes in his hands. His face hidden behind a demon mask that was white, but it was crusted with blood... I don't think that is fake blood or paint.

Ginel2019 The legendary size is actually supposed to be as big as the Washington Monument. I didn't know how to say any of this when its supposed to take place in a fantasy world.
