Chapter 10: Mindless Filler I Suppose
And after our lovely lunch at a nearby ramen shop, we split up until the afternoon.
For now I've gotten Miyoko and Kenji's support, no matter how weak it may be.
It's going to be a lot of help tomorrow at the test, but I do wonder, if my two team mates ever showed up in canon?
All I can remember is that 3 teams are gonna pass, Team Kakashi, the Genjutsu lady and Asuma. I think her name was something along the lines of Kurenai?
"Hey Hiro, what are you doing over there?"
And here comes our infamous blockhead to pester me.
"Well, duh, what do you think, I'm meditating"
I reply to his rather obvious question.
"But, you're just laying in the grass though" he asks while scratching his head.
Tsk tsk, kids would never understand.
"Nope, I'm getting closer to nature by doing this, everything is optimized from the shadows to the comfort" I do my best Nara impression.
Even if I couldn't see him, I could almost hear his stupid confused face.
"So you're just napping?" he asks me.
"Yeap, you caught me haha" but I was indeed not lying, I can now meditate while I'm doing simple movements, like walking or talking.
It's kind of annoying to focus but after I get it going, it just does it on its own. I also think the pros outweigh the cons.
I don't exactly know what the pros are at the moment though.
"Welp, you're still the same huh" Naruto says while laying down next to me on the grass.
Hmm? it seems like he's gotten more comfortable with me, I wonder why?
"Hey Hiro, can I ask something from you"
Oh no, what's he going to ask. Shit, he just realized he's the 9 tails host, he must be going through a lot and needs someone to talk to.
"Sure man, I'll try my best to help" I say by matching his serious tone.
"Well, I'm just wondering...how do you get a girl to like you?"
Excuse me what?
This dumb idiot, hah I shouldn't have gotten worried about him, he's practically optimized in the flesh.
" Ah, you dumb idiot, I thought it was gonna be something serious for a second, I mean how would I know, I'm In the same boat as you are"
It's probably something that happened with Sakura. To be honest I don't really know what he saw in her.
"No I'm serious, I don't know why but sometimes it feels like you know everything, so I don't know, I just thought of asking you"
Whoops, it seems like my disguise has been somewhat seen through, but to be honest I've been thinking about slowly dropping it anyways, it's been too troublesome at this point.
Welp, time to be a love guru I suppose, besides it's not like I'm not curious.
"Well, why do you like Sakura then" I ask him while taking in the lazy air.
Ahh, it actually feels nice to actually relax for real, I might get addicted to this feeling of laziness.
"Ahh, how did you know it was her" came his dumbfounded reply.
Wait, has it not been obvious? Did I gave myself away? I don't know but I'll just stick to my guns.
"Dude, everyone in class can see that you have a crush on her"
"Is it that obvious" he says while clutching his head and thrashing about.
"Nevermind that, just answer the question Naruto"
Is it because she's pretty? Well I mean she looks kinda cute I guess? To be honest looking at all these kids, the best I could say was cute. Like you want to tease them a bit.
"I think we have something similar about us, I don't know, and her smile is pretty" huh, well I guess that's what I should reasonably expect from a kid.
"Well, I suppose one way to win her over is to win against Sasuke" I say while scratching my nose.
Yep, I was just going to keep canon intact, heck I think Naruto having a crush on Sakura isn't that bad.
I mean I know she has a rather bad reputation in the anime community but from what I know of her, she's a good girl, if not a bit sheltered. I guess I kind of see Naruto's point of them being similar. She wants to acknowledged by her efforts too.
"What, how would that help me" he asks cluelessly.
"Well Sakura likes Sasuke right, then if you beat Sasuke, she'll think you're cooler than him, simple as that" I say without an ounce of shame in me.
Sorry Naruto, bad boys have the early advantage and while I do support your endeavors, I'm not gonna make you edgy yet.
"Is it that easy?"
"Of course it is, now go onward, and win lady Sakura's heart young Padawan"
"Thanks for your advice, Hiro. I'll see you back at the class" he replies as he gets up to leave with that signature smile of his.
"But Naruto"
"Hm" he turns back to me as he's leaving.
"Just be the best you that you can be okay, that's what people like about you, so never change" I say truthfully, I don't know why I said that, maybe I felt guilty or wanted to be a part of a flashback but I said it in the end.
He seems confused for a second but then grins and gives me a thumbs up before running back.
"Hah, I guess I should head back soon too" But meditating while I'm laying down like this feels really nice, almost makes me feel a bit sleepy.
I guess a short nap wouldn't hurt no one.
*Yawn*
Yeah, I'm just gonna take a quick break, I feel like I deserve it.
Unknowst to him, pair of eyes were watching him from afar.
"Hmm, is this really the training maniac I heard about, doesn't look much"
A lady with pure white eyes was looking at him from afar, with a simple smile on her face.
If to notice a gaze, Hiro suddenly wakes up and looks around in a daze. Then as if knowing he's almost late, he rushes towards his classroom.
"Hmm maybe it would be a bit fun this year"
Man, I was almost late there, who would have thought that meditating like that would relax my body too much, I almost fell asleep there.
"Hey Hiro, you were almost late man, don't tell me you fell asleep outside" Naruto says with a smug look on his face.
Tsh, annoying bastard, he's making a pretty punchable face right now.
"Stop bothering Hiro, Naruto you idiot" says Sakura while she slaps his head with a head chop.
Huh, I guess she feels kind of responsible for his actions now.
I wonder what changed or was it always like this in the canon.
"Ah no, it's ok Haruno, we're just friends messing around here, nothing too much" Hmm I suppose I should get closer to Team 7 and the others, I've been avoiding them for a while just in case.
Speaking of which, there is my team right there.
"Oh, I'll go talk to my team now, oh and also Ms.Haruno? please take care of Naruto "
"Hm, ah no it's ok, I'm his teammate after all, and you can just call me Sakura, it's ok"
'Was Hiro always this polite' She thinks while looking at his smiling face.
"Then I'm grateful" I reply back and move on towards my teammates.
"Hey there Nagashi, Kyoko what did you guys do over the break" I start by making small talk.
"Oh Kenji and I were talking about our new teacher. He and I are particularly good in our Taijitsu, so we were assuming that you were too, oh and also feel free to call me Mioko"
Oh wow, first name basis already huh.
"Yes, feel free to call me Kenji too" he says before blushing a bit.
I suppose we are meant to face life and death together, so this wouldn't be too much of a problem.
But wait, c'mon Kenji, why are you blushing sometimes and cool the next second, what's your character huh?
"Well if you say so, I'll call you Mio and Ken, is that okay"
Give me an inch and I'll take a mile, we need to strengthen our bond too.
Hah, I could almost see her eyes twitching a bit, but it's ok, I got a grasp of her character.
"Haha, it's fine Hiro" I can feel the invisible anime anger a bit, kind of funny to tease these kids.
It seems like Kenji doesn't really care that much.
"Yeah, that's ok, but is taijutsu also your best"
I suppose from what I've shown to the others, it is my best.
"Yeah it is, do you guys have any clues?" I ask with a curious look.
"W-well Mioko was saying here that we will probably get a taijutsu jounin teacher" he says while blushing, Jesus my guy, why are blushing so hard, I sense a story between these two, I might need to investigate.
"No no, it's just a simple observation I made, nothing serious" she says while trying to wave away the compliment.
Just look at her, starved for compliments, jeez.
But, I suppose what she said makes sense here, from what I know of these two, their taijutsu level is rather high, though If I remember correctly Mio had a rather high ninjutsu.
But it is rather hard to say it's Ninjutsu because we only learnt the basic academy three.
Wait, if they're talking about taijutsu experts, one clan comes to mind, but surely they won't assign a Hy-
"Team 6, please go to room 403"
Iruka sensei calls out our team. It seems our teacher is here now.
"Let's start going now" says Mio.
It seems she wants to lead the team now, ambitious fellow.
But what's with the feeling of dread in the bottom of my gut here.
I suppose I'll just handle whatever comes at me, it's what I'm best at after all.
But still, fuck.
