Chapter 14: Deal
"So, is this the best service you got?" Argen said while he leisurely placed his foot onto a stone table. "Rather than a stone table, do you have any bed? I prefer it soft and squishy" He said while tapping onto the table's surface.
Behind Argen's chair were the king's subordinates and in front of him was the king himself sitting on the elevated throne.
The cloth that used to cover most of Argen's sight was now removed and Argen's peerless golden eyes were finally revealed to the world once again.
However, the black creatures didn't have a sense of aesthetics and just though of Argen's looks as plain ol' normal.
"I can't believe you were really telling the truth that you won't harm me" Argen commented while looking at the creature's king. His interlocutor rolled his eyes.
Argen tried to remember this species kind, but to no avail. Even the SA's Informant was at a loss.
"I brought you here to make a deal" The king went straight towards his main purpose.
"Before that, could you tell me what kind of species you are? You know, humans, animals, things, monsters and stuffs...?" Argen asked out of curiosity. Even though he was also curious why they had chosen him to make a deal with out of all people, he just decided to put the black creatures' information about themselves as first priority.
"Give me a short introduction about yourselves. Well, I got to know whom am I talking to and making a deal with" He requested without further ado.
A vein slightly throbbed on the king's head. Nevertheless, he gave a small introduction about themselves to Argen.
"We are the Dark Nature Element Mutants. Happy? I think we need not to devolve information any further" The Dark Mutant's King answered in displeasure.
However Argen just didn't want it to end their story with those words. "Tell me more! That was a lousy introduction. Tell me something about yourselves!" He pestered.
'This brat...! Last time he was the epitome of the word coward, now he's audacious to the extreme! If I did not swear that oath, I might've already slapped this chicken unconscious!'
"Pretty please~?" Argen let out sparkling eyes like a puppy's and puckered his lips into a pout.
Obviously, the dark mutant's king wasn't moved but instead, was disgusted.
"Ew."
"...?"
What an insulting syllable.
"Ew? Have you ever looked at yourself at the mirror?" Argen rolled his eyes. "Wait, isn't this a breach of your oath? Aren't you hurting me with words?"
"You're not even hurt. Anyway let's just go straight to the point. Let's make a deal!" After that, Argen's interlocutor gestured the subordinates to leave.
When the place was left with no one except Argen and the forest's king, the latter began to speak.
"The deal I would be proposing is about freedom."
"Freedom?" Argen's ears perked up when he heard the word. "Great timing! I'm looking for a way to free myself out of this stupid forest!" Argen said in a pleasantly surprised voice.
Stupid?!
"Sheesh, you are a handful of insults aren't you? Telling that straight to the owner of the place."
Meanwhile, Argen was rejoicing his luck inside.
'What great luck for me to immediately get out of this place while having the leader as guide! I thought I would be stuck for more than a week in this horrible place. I haven't even found a single bird nor an ant to accompany me in this forest ever since!' Argen said when he remembered his Divine Scrutiny's data.
Meaning, he couldn't hunt for food and neither could he pluck some fruits from the plants; seeing a single fruit would be like a dark mutant's body part.
Imagine eating an apple and immediately turns into rotten eyeball instead after you had already swallowed a bite.
Furthermore, Argen won't even last for a week, especially since a body of water is not present to sustain his thirst. He overestimated himself by saying he could last for a week.
Also it was not like he spent days observing the forest so his words about how animals are extinct in this area may be an exaggeration. Well its highly possible that he is right though.
"Well yes, but this is also about mine." The king clarified.
"Really? You, the ruler, finally want to get out of this stupid place too?"
The king ignored Argen's insulting words and continued. "Not that I hate this place or anything. It's been boring as of late. I want to go out to the world and have fun."
He gave a meaningful look at Argen before speaking. "Take me outside the wall and in exchange, I shall give you safety in this forest!" He said.
Unfornately for the dark mutant king, Argen was smart when he needs to and this time was the perfect one for that.
"I don't have anything that benefits me at all in that deal! Safety? You have already given me that when you uttered your oath as exchange for winning my trust" Argen smiled.
"Shameless!" The dark mutant king slammed his hands onto the throne.
"Shameless? It's called being smart." When Argen said that, he tapped his head with his finger, indicating wits.
"You will die a horrible death!"
"Anyway, give me a different benefit." Argen made a small gesture of his palms, as if saying 'go on'.
"..."
Sigh
"Then what do you propose then?" The Dark Mutant King ran out of options and decided to hear Argen's proposal.
Argen smirked. "Before that, first, I don't want you to go outside looking like that"
"Don't worry I have my ways"
"Second, don't follow me around. Make sure when we step onto the other side of the wall, we part ways"
"Why'd you mention the obvious? I wouldn't want to be with you either"
"Third. When your identity is busted and some authorities or anyone catches you, don't you dare implicate me"
"Damn..."
"Okay then here's the deal. You pay me with lots of money as soon as we get out of this forest."
Money?
"Sure. I have lots of them." The Dark Mutant King nodded.
Argen's eyes let out a sparkle. A question then hit him "So what happens to your place or people when your gone?"
